Ebay problem - what would you do ?

I bought a used camera from ebay, and it isn't as described, so I want to return it.
The seller has accepted this, but the return label that ebay has sent me has a different address on it to the one the seller has given me and wants me to use. The address she has given me is the one on her website, so its fair to assume that she is being honest about this.
My question is that if I send it to her new address and there is a problem, will ebay cover me ?

I have no real reason to expect the seller to not refund me and cover the return postage, but we have all heard horror stories about not getting refunds...
Any suggestions ?

Will ebay cover you? not if you send to an unofficial address and they say not reciveed.. is it ebay OR paypal thats covering you? should be paypal?

Either way . send it recorded delivery..
 
Oh, I don't know - I went via the ebay resolution centre, who sent me a pre-paid return address to stick on the parcel - royal mail tracked 48, so I assume it is recorded delivery..?

yes it is... if you send it anywhere else and theres a problem i would be 99.9% sure ebay will have nothing to do with it.. because the first thing they will want to see is proof of delivery from the info they gave you.

I would speak to the seller and explain.. ask if they can retrieve from original addy
 
Again, many thanks Kipax I appreciate your help. I'm actually talking to a guy at the ebay resolution centre right now - I had no idea it would be so easy to get help from them!
 
Well, I almost can't believe how helpful the Resolution Centre has been.
I've been speaking with Padhraig, who may just be doing his job, but he has been doing it so well.
After all the tales one reads about how impossible it can be to get help from any big organization it appears that thanks to his help, all is on its way to being sorted.

Hopefully the item is worth less than £50 then?

If something goes wrong that's all RM Tracked 48 will cover you for.

I've sent it fully insured at my cost, which I hope to claim back, but thanks for pointing that out.
The sad part (for me) is that this is a camera, sold by someone who is a professional photographer - would you sell a camera with a dial that didn't work and another that is missing from the battery grip and not mention it in the description ?
 
Rather shoddy that Steve. I’m very reluctant to buy stuff off eBay anymore. The only bargains seem to be the items I list for sale! I bought a lens a few years back which was described as mint. It was almost falling apart. Creaks, rattles, scuffs, you name it. When questioned, the buyer was selling it for a friend!!!!!!

Refunded without issue though to his credit.
 
Out of the bad comes something good. Not only did I get fantastic help from Padhraig at the resolution centre but while trying to find a replacement I've been in touch with a couple of really helpful sellers who are trying to get me equipped in a rush,and not upping their prices. I should be getting a delivery or two tomorrow .!
