Yes
New fees, but private sellers will now only get paid after delivery.
This will be fun! (or not)

I’m pretty meticulous over selling on there , with a 100% positive feedback over many years , both buying and selling ..but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth .there are far to many crafty people about who will start to claim non delivery etc or delivered to wrong address etc . It leaves private sellers at the whim of the delivery people to do the job correctly and in this day and age you only have to look at local Facebook groups to see evri have left my parcel at the wrong address etc and in my own experience amazon tend to leave items on your doorstep without even ringing or knocking .. . I have even heard of thieves following Amazon vans collecting doorstep delivery’s .
And though 99% of items will be delivered correctly it’s the 1% that the problem.
Personally I’ve had one this week where the tracking wouldn’t work as I had substituted a 0 for a O in the numbers ,now corrected but could have been a problem

I gave up selling on Ebay several years ago, and the deal for sellers has been gradually getting worse in recent years. I don't think I'd bother with it any more for selling now, I've been burned a couple of times as a seller and several times as a buyer in the past, so it's lost its edge for me.

I'm another one with 100% seller feedback but after reading about these new terms and conditions I doubt I will ever sell on there again, especially if they will only release the funds after confirmed delivery of an item.

I once sold an Arcam amp on there and the buyer claimed it was faulty when he received it, wanting me to pay for it to be repaired and even quoting me a price for the cost of the repair, which was close to the price he had paid for the amp... I told him I had tested it right before packing it and it was fully functional. He never replied and no return was initiated by him

I don't sell in eBay any more but I am in ecommerce so have dealt with many claims of non receipt.

We switched to using Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48 and we rarely ever have non receipt claims anymore. The service gives you £150 insurance and you get GPS co-ordinates and a photograph on delivery. The customer also gets email and/or Text message notification of expected delivery and when delivery has been made.

what are the new fees?

what are the new fees?
You should have a message from Ebay re fees, looks like the fee is paid by the buyer now
•
The fee will be included in the item price from private sellers, so there are no surprises at checkout.
•
Buyers will pay up to 4% of the item price, plus £0.75.** For example, when they see an item for £20, the fee of £1.49 will already be part of the price.
•
The fee is lower on higher-priced items over £300, and there's a cap on the total amount they'll pay.

So the idiots that run eBay have realised that sellers have had enough and are no longer selling on their platform so now they’re going to fleece the buyers instead.

Guess I won’t be selling or buying on eBay anymore.

Interesting I have loads of Aruba stuff to sell best get it listed and see :)

One possible impact is that sellers may get less for their items as the buyers will now be paying the auction premium and may be less inclined to make higher bids.
Either way eBay has to make its money be it from buyer or seller. It's still cheaper than a lot of physical auction houses which have both buyer and seller commission

Just had a quick read and looks like buyer pays 4 % or less, not that bad is it?

There trying to compete with Facebook marketplace which is totally free and hassle free ,though a pain in the bum with idjits but stuff on there does sell

Anything of value will need to be collection only IMO.

Time to get the last of the ‘stuff’ listed!

Time to put an advert in the papershop window!!

It's years ago now but my local ASDA used to have a notice board you could advertise on. I sold quite a bit of computer kit that way. It's gone now but maybe the local paper shop can fill that gap.

Don’t think it’s mandatory to use e,bay postal services ,I always use Royal Mail but you have to be careful there. One parcel I sent this week they used evri instead only noticed when I input tracking .. .guess you now have to notify the girl on the desk at the p.o . Mind you the parcel got there quickly

This is to bring them in line with the likes of Vinted who are grabbing more and more market share.

4% plus 75p so an item that costs £20 will be an additional £1.49 or in this case 7.5%.

Ebay is just trying - far too late - to catch up with Amazon in terms of customer confidence and trust.

I can't help but feel though that doing fee's this way is a way of getting sellers to lower there prices and essentially absorb the costs themselves, quite clever of ebay

Just on buying, I always find it difficult to remember / find out how to contact customer services on Amazon. It seems to be a bit hidden and I always struggle to remember how to do it.

I've recently started buying from AliExpress and I have to say that their service for me and so far has been good. They deliver quickly and they monitor the transaction and recently intervened and gave me a refund when a third party seller took a bit too long. Plus they have a wonderful feature which allows you to compare prices for the exact same item or similar items. So far it's been better than both ebay and Amazon for me.

I have used the other one Temu quite a bit of late, good items fast delivery end to end tracking . I.e ordered a coat for the daughter on Xmas day as she liked the one I got for the wife turned up last Thursday around a week

Yup. Me and Mrs have bought quite a bit off Temu, mostly camping equipment but some other things too and all as far as I remember with no issues. I haven't bought anything expensive from either Temu or AliExpress though and at the moment I don't intend to but you never know. Actually I don't know if they sell anything expensive.

I read that one of Temu’s warehouses burned to the ground not too long ago. The losses were estimated to be £57.42 :ROFLMAO:
