Hi,
I made a boo boo. I clicked "Buy it Now" on an item, only 11.95 worth of Laptop case, now I don't want it. Can you cancel "Buy it Now" on ebay?

Basically the seller adds vat (not clear in the description) then instead of PayPal he uses some other form of payment but it CLEARLY states PayPal in the description. Hmm.

Here is the item for your perusal :)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=130056741691&rd=1&rd=1

PS. It's a gift for the missus before any of you ask ;)

I believe you can with a valid reason BBW ... however it does go on your personal count so you wouldn't want to do it too often ... imo ... :thinking:

You seem to have a reasonable reason ... do it quick ... I would ... :D

Have you seen postage too ... :eek:

EDIT ... sorry ... too kwik myself now ... :embarrassed: ... not sure about the BIN situation ... :shrug:

HTH ... :p

tell ebay the listing is not as advertised and dispute it

hes obviously stung people on the vat front before, his feedbaCK says it all.

if he says he accepts and prefers paypal he can bloodywell accept paypal so another dispute!

It is a bit cheeky - the ex VAT thing isn't entirely clear, but is mentioned 3 times - so you might not get away with claiming the auction was unclear. However, perhaps just email the seller saying that you honestly didn't realise it was ex VAT. They might be alright with it.
If they insist you have to pay, you could be cheeky and "put a cheque in the post".

Or not.

(I don't condone this behaviour though - I hate non-paying bidders! :p)

Im sure you can revoke a bid, but having never used that option I cannot explain in detail how you would go about this, nor do I know if it applies to "buy now" bids.

FRINFO ...

"When you place a bid or use "Buy It Now", you enter a binding contract.

It is possible for you to cancel a bid you've placed before the end of an auction, but only in the exceptional circumstances listed below. Please note that the number of times you've retracted a bid is displayed in your feedback profile.

It's against eBay rules to withdraw from a purchase after the listing has ended. Learn more about what you can do after the end of the listing.

To cancel a bid, fill in the Bid Retraction Form. You’ll be asked to provide a reason why you'd like to cancel your bid. The available reasons are:

* Entered wrong amount

* Seller changed item description

* Cannot contact the seller

Important: Your seller can object to the reason you gave for retracting the bid. For example:
" etc., etc.,

HTH ...:D

:p

Oh I'm sure there must be more reasonable reasons ... these were just from the FleaBay site ... :shrug:

At the end of the day it is a contract ... and as such must be reasonable on and for all parties ... or it will not stand up in court ... end of imo ... :thumbs:

:p

I know it's not what you want to hear, but ALWAYS check the feedback, how this guy is still trading on EBAY is beyond me. His feedback says it all.
VAT / Delivery is mentioned. relatively clearly

My mate, as a seller, got taken to court for a car he sold on ebay, genuine seller (car sold as seen) , but the buyer won the case, so you never know.

You could try the ebay discussion boards for any help .... but I fear you'll just invoke the wrath of all the indignant sellers .. "This is where we run our businesses, its our livelihoods, its not a car boot sale you know" Bloody well is, biggest car boot sale ever - some good stuff but a lot of tat, and sharks overpricing on their P&P...

Well normally I'd say you're stuffed. I've become very cynical of eBay, and I usually state that they only care about their fees, rather than the end user.

However, this guy adding on 17.5% is deliberately skirting ebay fees on that 17.5% (It will be added to the paypal total but not the final auction fee).

Isn't there some sort of law in this country that there HAS to be an inc vat price advertised? (Even if its alongside an ex Vat price).

I think your only possible get out is if he really won't accept Paypal, the auction clearly states that he does, it also clearly states the final price and that he's adding vat so don't even try to get out of it that way. He will return bad feedback for bad so be warned on that too.

If he's charging VAT ask him what his VAT number is so you can claim it back as part of your tax return. I bet he's not really VAT registered and is just pulling a fast one. Frighten him with talk of revenue and customs and he'll probably clear off.

VAT Registration Number 843828306 :(

Where's the GB on the end of your VAT number Steep.

Asking for his VAT number and a VAT Invoice before hand will just slow things down a little. Your still gonna have to pay by one of his agreed methods in the listing.

If the VAT number is not a UK supplied VAT number then you do not have to pay the VAT on the goods. But you will probably have to pay an import fee instead.

See what s/he says after this and in the end you will probably still have to pay him/her and put it down to experience.

Hmm

I have bought from these before and had no problem saved £45 over any other price i could find, item was genuine uk stock also.

all his listings indicate total price inc p+p around 3 times

he is vat registered as I checked his vat number on the invoice i got.

i payed him by paypal - just check the pay now and follow links.

If you don't want to buy it just don't send payment.

says this:
