Been looking at these Softbox for speedlite as a cheaper alternative to the more expensive lastolite ones I've seen, anyone used them as they like they'll do the job.

Wanting to get bit more creative so to speak, these seem to be a good way to start as i have 2 Canon 430EXIIs and a 580EXII so can slave the 430s in these stands, which would be cheaper then getting some big studio flashes.

Or is there another way don't want to spend too much if I could get a starter pack for less then £300 then I would be over the moon :).
 
I just bought another type of softbox, more like an umbrella-like octabox from that exact seller. Packaging could be better, but have no fear buying from them. Here's a quick (and unshaved, it was that quick) self portrait from the 12£ octabox I got from "Mr Studio One":

 
Looks good :) well atleast the seller is good :), as long as the stuff arrives its a win :).
 
Be careful as the package looks bulky. You might get stung with import tax. There is a website that sells the same here in UK... if no one posts it, I'll try to find the link...

I had similar considerations but lower budget a year ago when I get my first softbox so after some investigation I opted for the Photek Softlighter II. I bought it from B&H in US. It is very inexpensive and all and all counting the customs to UK it cost me around 90 pounds at that time. Considering that this is a huge size softbox and umbrella at the same time, this is a good investment.

It's very easy to setup and takes about 3-5 mins from fully packed to ready to be used.

This page has an example of this setup with the same size of Softlighter II and Nikon SB-800 flash (your Canon hotshoe flashes will be just as good for this). This is eaxctly what I'm using at home ;-)

Right and im sold on this :D hehe gonna order 2 of them, do you think that the 430EXII will be ok or would i need a 580? ?

Just to remind you that the magic softbox doesn't come with a light stand in case you haven't spotted it yet.
 
I just bought a cheap version of the Lastolite softbox off a guy from Flickr for £44 inc delivery. It came with the mounting bracket and a little carry case as well.

It doesn't have the inner diffuser but it seems to do the job perfectly for £44 :)

I found out where he got them from, must see what price I can get them for ;)

He told everyone that he would only sell them on at a price which covers postage and PayPal fees. Whether this is true or not I don't know.

I don't really care to be honest as £44 for what I got is very good :)
