jus starting playing with off camera flashes with umbrellas etc so want a backdrop / stand

£50

i know the stand will just be a stand but needs to be slightly adjustable for a 6ft (ish) wideroom

unsure on what the back drops are like with this as im totatlly new, but read muslin backdrops are the way to go?

would i be better buying a package like above? or buying the stand then looking for a backdrop, wanting white + black

but just unsure whats good and whats not

I've got something similar, but the b/drop is 3m x 6m for about £70.00, those from your site are only 3m long so you will be losing most of the length on the height, so unless you have a white floor you get a split floor shot where carpet/ w/floor runs into the b/drop, plus if you are using a white b/drop your subject /model will be about 10ft away from it so you don't get shadows

any suggested backdrops then? and i can buy a stand on its own

thanks

it depends on what your shooting, portraits, (head & shoulders ) that most probably do,but if you want full body shots you could do with a longer b/drop. you can get all kinds of b/drops but at a price, but if you are just playing about with lighting then you could put a white/ black sheet on the floor & edit out the join.

thats the plan at the minute im playing and learning off camera flash, i was guna buy another backdrop same size for around 15 as the size id need would be £80+

then as you said edit the line out

Looking at Background Support Stands myself at the moment,,, i always try to go down the road of ,, only want to buy once :)

Ive not got a Background Support Stand as of yet,, thou gut feeling is ,, cheaper means,, support in middle will soon give up ?? or am i wrong ,,

more important,,, is width ,, is there any stand width size,, as dont want to end up a few inches short  (dont care what anyone thinks lol )

By from what i can gather 3m wide seems to be the norm

been looking at http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-wexpro-2-7m-background-support-stand/p1529670

not cheapest, thou not most expensive either ,,

advice needed

I have the Lencarta background kit (around 70.00?) with air damped stands that make good lightstands too. If you want to buy once... As for backgrounds, I use paper roll. There are plenty of 3x4 and 3x6 muslin backgrounds on eBay etc. I cannot figure out how they differ - in terms of price they vary WIDELY - as they all seem to be around 140g/m2.

I thought about ebay stands and they seem pretty good value
but I've also heard that they leak light quite a bit and are lower in quality than a branded option.

received today got from ebuyer exactly same just 1/2 the price, stand is very lightweight and cheapy but what do you expect for £25?

only thing that was disappointing is the actually black and white backdrops which are basically see-through and full of creases but wasnt intending to use them as there too short
