Easyjetov...New Russian airline for Gatwick

Nothing really new here...the Russians love to rattle the sabre but as long as MAD is in place I really don't expect things to heat up  if nothing else it gives biggles and co a little bit of real mission time rather than just training  and I'm sure if the enemy aircraft made an aggressive move they would be making hundreds of unscheduled water landing not long after as the remaining parts of the aircraft hit the water...

Bears - long range reconaisance plane - alledgedly a bomber but not really used in that role. One tiffie could splash the pair of them without breaking a sweat

I guess they were just trying to strengthen Soviet UK relations by dropping by.
No more sinister that

The fact that they chose not to "speak" to us is neither here nor there. :p

Easyjetov sounds like a cleaner. ;)

Pretty much, it's certainly nothing new

Same Russian aircraft

Different interceptor

In my Air Cadet days we had a tasty shot of a "Bear" with 2 Lightnings in the then NATO camoflague, gently suggesting a return to the motherland was the best route for a rather large fragile 4 prop aircraft.

Ah the years just fly by.......

Yeah it is somewhat of an old Russian bird, supposbly it's been updated over time but who really knows with mother Russia

Are we completely innocent in never having flown over or close to International Border Space with the intention of "upsettting" the locals!

Probably not all that innocent, I know a read a report of a Portuguese Aircraft was intercepted by a rusky fast jet recently, I forget exactly where, I know it was on NATO ops somewhere over Eastern Europe

It looked a lovely day for taking to the skies...

Yeah, but we do this for good purpose, and they are all evil :p

Next time we could give them a lovely welcome present of some 20mm canon shells and a sidewinder up the arse

Yes we could. Then again, they could do it to ours as well.

This is something thats happened for years. We do it, they do it. They don't need to talk to Air traffic any more than we do. The aircraft shows up on radar, so civil traffic can be steered round them. It's a big deal being made about nothing at all.
