Festive fun or hopping mad: Is Easter the new Christmas?

Easter has been dubbed the "second Christmas" as wreaths, trees and crackers appear in shops.

Strangely, when my kids were younger, we used to make a thing of easter presents, but only because one was born a week before
christmas and one a week after, so it spread things out a bit for then
 
Easter means absolutely nothing to me. Just another day.
It's typically the first weekend we go camping though, and usually enjoy decent weather.
 
I’m not religious in any way but I loved Easter when I lived in Spain. A week of the most amazing traditional processions. As a non-believer I found it fascinating and so very different, and a great photo opportunity!

They did mention that some countries do celebrate it more then we do
 
Both times are the worst with inconsiderate worshippers parking for the church opposite.
Latecomers get desperate and park anywhere, perhaps there is a double collection money tardiness fine.
 
I've always liked Easter. Same number of days off work as Christmas without all the requirement to go to special events and decorate the house because it's Christmas :). Also, the weather is generally better.

In December when Boris cancelled Christmas for Kent we all went "right - let's all get together at Easter - it will be even better". Nobody ever imagined that the lockdown wouldn't be over for Easter :(. Sounds like we might have a big midsummer party instead :)
 
When we were young we were given one chocolate Easter egg and several pasche eggs for Easter.
Always looked forward to it.
 
Well, that would explain why I passed a couple of houses last night with their external Christmas lights turned on again.
 
Glorious sunshine here in the sunny South West! :P Chilly and breezy but bright and clear.
 
Always enjoyed eastet as a kid, no religious aspect to it for us but just a bit of fun.

But Greek easter, that was where the real celebrations were at!
 
It completely upends the TV schedules and I'm programmed to tune in at the regular news times each day. There's no Andrew Marr on Sunday morning, either. :( I'm looking forward to tomorrow and a return to life as it was. At least the football wasn't interrupted :)
 
Besides the chocolate, Easter has always been boring ... we did go to mass as kids, we'd have a roast of some sort for the dinner and some jelly and ice cream after [if we finished out veg!] - then we'd tuck into the eggs while watching some crap movie , if my mother got her way it was some Jesus film but over the years she backed off and let us watch whatever. I don't carry on the religious factor, stopped going to mass when I was 12 apart from weddings/funerals and though I still 'celebrate' Easter in a way, [if buying the kids eggs is celebrating it] ... it's nothing more than that, a choco-holiday
 
There was a piece on the radio about the origins of the easter bunny and easter eggs. It was interesting :D

Easter bunny eggs are tiny and taste like crap.
 
I've heard that people get more demanding when it comes to Easter presents and activities, but to me and my family it's just another day to spend together, we don't do much of Easter stuff either. I can do a smartshow 3d video with bunnies and Easter pics for the children, but mostly we don't care about it
 
I eat chocolate any day I fancy it, much easier to handle in a bar shaped chunk and cheaper too, religion, makes the world go to war.

You know you can buy those bars at Easter too right? the eggs are a treat, and why not have an occasiol something different?

We get the week off through work every year so its gardening and DIY usually, we don't even go crackers with the grandchildren. I used to enjoy getting a new mug from Woolies years ago from the MIL.
