I've just bought an E-M10 as a general/walkaround camera to save me lugging my D7200 around everywhere. I'm new to mirrorless and there seems to be so many lenses! I'm looking for something for outdoor use mainly suitable for portraits/street type photography. I haven't got a huge budget (under £200 really), any suggestions please?

I will be keeping an eye on this as well, currently contemplating my next lens. Thinking of a prime in the 15 to 20mm region at the moment

The p25 is a great lens - realistically in m43, there is little noticeable difference in DoF between it and the o25 1.8 which is much smaller. You might find the o25 a bit quicker to focus on the em10. About £170-£200 used.

The o45 is amazing for portraits and small. £110-£125 used but maybe too long for street

If you want smaller and wider, there's the p20 1.7 which is incredibly sharp but can hunt in low light and can suffer from banding at iso3200+

I use a Sygma Micro 4/3 19mm Prime.

Good lens, rattles a bit when not switched on, but results PDG............

And not too costly............

How does the 14-42 ez kit lens compare to the primes? It's quite expensive new.

It's not a good lens - adequate at best, based on our copy. The one advantage is that it's tiny.

Lots of classic street stuff was/is taken with something in the region of 28-35mm, set the camera for zone or hyperfocal focusing and off you go firing quickly with no need to focus... and if that's what you'd like I'd say that the Oly 17mm f1.8 is pretty much perfect with it's 35mm equivalent field of view and the ability to set it for hyperfocal or zone focusing just like in the good old days :D The only problem is the budget but hunt about and bide your time and you might get one in budget.

Failing that there are often bargain Olympus 25 and 45mm f1.8's about and the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 is an option too. I think I paid £90 for my 14mm f2.5.

My street comment was probably a bit misleading, I meant it more as a general walkabout lens really.

I've ordered the 45mm now anyway, I think it'll suit my needs perfectly (well I hope so anywa!).

The 45mm is a good lens, bit looooong for general use for me (90mm equiv FoV) but I'm sure you'll be happy with the image quality :D

You may find that it's useful for more than that. A while ago I took a lottttttttttttttt of pictures with old 50mm film era lenses.

I really like an 85-90mm lens, much more than 35-50mm equivalent which is never wide enough to be wide and never long enough to get close.
