Yes
I got quite a good quote from E&L yesterday.
£6000 of kit
All risks (except leaving unattended in a vehicle) UK only.
New for old cover
Premium £108 per year.

I found a post on a website where someone said not to touch them with a barge pole. I have no way of knowing whether that is remotely fair.

Anyone on hear have experience of E&L?

The general consensus is a barge poll will not be quite long enough...

Have a search there are lots of others that people always recommend Aduki and photoguard spring to mind....

I am covered for £5k on my house insurance so check that out...!

I phoned E&L for a quote - specifically for worldwide cover and the lady informed me that they had a huge excess and I'd do better contacting photoguard - which I did.

Hi guys.I have just renewed mine for the second year with Equity. I have new for old cover for all my gear up to £10.000 in or out of the house including accidental damage.

The policy also has 1 million public liability.

The renewal was £193.00

Thanks for the warning.

I am checking out the household road. I wrote to my insurers stating what I wanted cover for and requesting a quote. They wrote back giving me a number to phone.
I expect it will be one of those where I get told to:-
Press 1 to speak to an idiot.
Press 2 to speak to someone who is very pleasant, but no earthly use.
Press 3 to get cut off.

Got insurance under my household policy. £10 per month.
Paying it yearly was no cheaper.

No direct expierence with E&L but my family have.

They don't like paying claims. Both time they seemed keen to blag their way out of paying based on some flaky wording in their policies - and these were only fairly small claims.

No, I woulnd't touch them with a bargepole tipped bargepole.

My opener on this followed me reading about a couple who booked premises for a wedding and insured the event with E&L. The event fell through due to the organisers going to the wall. Insurers would not pay out for whatever reason and the couple were thousands out of pocket.

They sound like one of these outfits that will lend you an umbrella when it is not raining.

I can only speak for equestrian insurance. All I'll say is that a number of vets in my area when called out to a horse/pony, ask the owners if the horse is insured, and if so, with whom. If the owners says, E&L, Entertainment and Leisure, Equine and Livestock, they ask the client for the cash at the time of treatment, and if further treatment is needed, or if investigative treatment is needed, they ask for payment too. (With some equine insurance policies, you only have to pay the excess and the insurance will pay the vets directly upon receipt of an invoice).

The equine vet I've used in the past goes further in telling his clients that it's unlikely their claim will be met by that company.
