My first sale has gone through since they changed the system to you don’t get paid till confirmation of delivery , well posted it weds by evri 24 hour tracked , it was delivered today ,checked via my e.bay track item .
BUT it’s not showing up as delivered which means the payment is on hold . There’s also no way to actually speak to a human that can sort it out . Might as well walk down the river and throw your stuff in it’s less stressful

Over the twenty five years that I've used it, eBay has gone from a clever little hack in America, to a widely used but still "local and friendly" web site, to a thieves' kitchen that no sensible person would use without a lot of thought and very careful preparation. :(

This is what happens when you decide that the normal laws and rules for doing business are regarded as "retraints on trade" and that the sole purpose of the web is to make some people insanely rich.

About a month ago I received two separate items both of which were damaged.
Neither seller would accept my claim for a return despite full descriptions and photos.
Had to ‘raise a case’ with Ebay which took seven days before they ‘found in your favour’.
Posted items back and refunds issued five days later but still not actually received.
Amazon every time now for me, no quibble returns and instant refunds - and yes, I do buy locally if I can find the goods locally.

2...i did manage to get to a 'human' when chasing down a non-delivery
went through HELP / chat/ need more help / speak to a rep ... or some such route

Sorry to hear that Jeff - how very annoying for you.

Like John, I'd never buy from anyone that uses Hermes/Evri. I've had dozens of packages lost/stolen by them over the last twenty years or so.:headbang:

Thankfully, a lot were from Amazon so not a complete loss. However, the company itself is impossible to communicate with and customer satisfaction just does not factor into their business model.

I will only buy from Ebay - selling on there is a mug's game.

I'd pick Evri over royal fail any day of the week.

  • Wow

thankfully the item has now been posted as delivered after quite a few e.mails to e.bays robotic services so all things being equal I should get paid out sometime next week . just made a large value sale today sent by special delivery fingers crossed on that ..
and last night after a change of direction I removed half a dozen for sale items as well .. can't quiet get my head round why they are now charging buyers a fee rather than sellers must have a few umpalumpers working in there chocolate factory

strange...considering they were voted THE WORST Courier service for 2 years running

they have lied to me about attempted deliveries, left parcels in the rain (no doorbell rung ) and left parcels at the driveway gate
but...each to his own .............;)

Never had anything go missing through Evri in any of its past or present incarnations. Can't say the same for the post, with stuff going missing, being delivered next door, getting mail delivered here that's to a different post code or number or street.

I've had my current eBay account for 17 years, I had a business account before for around the time eBay started, hardly any problems until eBay changed the rules, last week I sent an item to the USA using the Global shipping system, there supposed to pay out the funds as soon as it's reached the Global shipping center, it was delivered last week, and the funds still wasn't released, so today I contacted them and got a callback.

First thing he said after giving him the details, was yes we release the funds after 24 hours, to which I replied, the item arrived before last weekend, when I went to school that added up to more than 24, I think that went over his head,as he transferred me, to a call center in Berlin, finally got the funds released after a 20 minute call.

Now I no longer sell items overseas, just too much hassle, which I just don't have the time for.

Evri are appalling round our way. Parcels constantly delivered to the wrong address, our local facebook group is always full of “has anyone got my parcel? Evri say they’ve delivered it but….” posts. We had three parcels dropped on our doorstep by Evri just last week. Only one was for us, the other two had completely different names and postcodes on. Luckily we knew the names and delivered them ourselves but I begrudge doing Evri’s job for them. I got a “satisfaction survey” email soon after and left them a poor review, not that it’ll make any difference.

Royal Mail and Parcelforce are absolutely fine on the other hand.

I am going to start selling again on ebay soon
tons of house clearance things to shift

O.k so the first item sent by evri is now showing delivered I should get a payment on Monday .. but the buyer has messaged me that he is in hospital .. ?. ? Might be genuine might not will I get a not received response next week I am suspicious.
Next item sold on Fri a camera just under £500 smackers , posted by special delivery , they attempted delivery this morning and no answer wtf why buy something expensive and not be there to receive it ??
Again my suspicions are raised .. .. but under the new e.bay rules you don’t get paid out till two days after the item is received .. the onus to receive the item is now on the seller not the buyer and if they can’t be arsed about when they get it we have to wait for our money ..unless this gets changed and quickly it’s by by from me on there

I don't have the time to wait at my house 24/7 for a courier that may or may not turn up and I'm sure there's plenty other people who have work and other commitments. If they try to deliver and I'm not there it doesn't bother since I'll go to the depot when I have time and pick it up, the item isn't any less safe for that.

That’s fine on your part and under the old e.bay rules not a problem , but as a seller it now causes problems as we don’t get paid till 48 hours after the item is received .its stressful and frustrating . And we are now forking out postage out of our own pockets before getting paid .

Would you prefer the old rules where you paid to sell?
There was always going to be a price to pay for no fees.
The purchaser is paying more too for the buyer protection.

Totally unreasonable to expect a buyer to be there waiting for every delivery.
If you are at work its often Saturday before you can get to the sorting office.
Easy answer put up with it or sell elsewhere.

1 YES much preferred

2 agreed but a simple message to say I'll get it on x date would be nice ..

Perhaps a company the size of eBay could make the same deal with the Post Office that Amazon has made, where the buyer may choose to have parcels go to the most convenient office and then have 7 days to pick them up.

Suits us especially well, as it's roughly 100 yards from our house. :)

Same here sold my Olympus 75-300 it was delivered the buyer was happy eBay said we will be paying soon water that means

My wife got an Email yesterday with an invoice for an Apple watch she hasn't bought on eBay...via Paypal. ... £748 and ab phone number attached. She wanted to call the number. No.....I suggested she call her bank as she does get anxious about these scams so she gave her bank a call who said no such sum had gone out. Anyway, the email address the scammer used is not the email address my wife has linked to Paypal.

I think the intention is for the recipient to call the scammer's number who says it's a mistake and will refund the money but needs banking details. I suppose some fall for it or the scammer wouldn't persist. All anyone who is concerned has to do is to check with their bank.

I did a Google on the seller's name and the address the watch was being sent to in London and someone had posted that it was a scam. I suggested my wife inform eBay which she did and she got a thank you acknowledgment. They should have closed down that account first time round after the person posted about it being a scam.

The scammer is Adam-0(117). Ship to 62,Ledbury rd. London D31 2AQ

You have to go to your account and claim it mark .they don’t make it easy

Funnily enough I had a PayPal request for money last night from a company in the states , but it was withdrawn/ blocked by PayPal before I could report it .. what a bloody week I’ve had

yet more lies by EVRi

Delivery attempted:

Sat, 22 Feb 14:58 Local time

Courier: Evri

I am disabled, housebound at the moment, so Delivery was NOT attempted

they do this when running late, or unable to find address

DONT BUY FROM A SELLER USING EVRi

Speaking to someone who uses fleabay their take on this is

1. They only ever use Royal Mail 48 hour tracked
2. So far they have been paid OK (although see 4 below)
3. There is now no sellers' commission so it's better in that respect.
4. The major problem is that fleabay sales are currently "dead". Whether this is because of the economic doom and gloom or the fact that buyers' now have to pay a commission
is debateable.

can't quiet get my head round why they are now charging buyers a fee rather than sellers must have a few umpalumpers working in there chocolate factory

Basically they have lost massive market share from the 18-40 year old age groups for clothes and fashion etc to vinted and a couple of other similar apps (not to mention Facebook marketplace) and are trying to adapt to regain the market share by adapting to how the next generation want to transact...plus they can advertise as free to list and then charge for listing upgrades...

Well it looks like .both my problems have been resolved , the first one was with the buyer in hospital but he must be home now as glowing feedback left , it worried me as it was a delicate item that was hard to wrap due to size and being made of plastic ..so hats off to evri 24 hr delivery must be treat3d like r.m.s.d .
Second one was a camera and lens that went for far more than I expected ,but now delivered and signed by r.m.s.d and funds available tomorrow.so breathing easy again ..but I still think this new system is far more stressful than the previous ones
