I'm looking at buying a new dye sub for events (eeeeeep, how exciting! ) It needs to print 9x6, used on a Win7 laptop and preferably a iMac OSx Lion 10.8.

I've found the DNP DS40 which is compact and media costs look good (but I've heard there have been problems with media, and that you can only buy it from Photomart? Is this true?).

Or I've found the Mitsubishi CP9810DW with slightly higher media costs, faster print speed for a 6x4.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these printers? Would they both run on my Win7 laptop and my imac? Or can anyone recommend another dye sub- I have about £1000 inc vat to play with.

We use a Mitsubishi 9550DW dye sub on a daily basis for passports/visas/driving licences etc as well as for samples. When we have an event (Prom etc) it works it's socks off churning out print after print.

I daren't look to see how many prints have been through it's but still going strong after three years. The upgraded CP9810DW is what we will get next and keep the one we have as a spare or for really busy events.

On a financial note ours paid for itself and all the media in just one night @ £10 per 9x6.

A thumbs up for the DS40 & Photomart from me. Think the DS40 is >£1000 though...............

And don't forget about your display boards, tables, tents, banners,.........................

I use a DS40 - although haven't used it for eventing as such.. It's compact, comparibly lightweight, and have never had an issue with media..

I believe they were originally available only through Photomart - but think you can get them from other places as well now - such as Calumet..

My brother (Bigrob on here) uses the DS40 on a Windows 7 laptop without any problems.

OS X 10.8 drivers aren't available yet but are promised soon. Also no Windows 8 drivers as yet.

Yes that is what photomart have told me, 10.8 drivers hopefully coming out in October, so I can still run it on the win7 lappy which is what I'll take with me to shows anyway.

Then need a gazebo, generator (sorted), some signs, sort out card payments... :help:
