I haven't used this software before but after taking some photo's at a show last night an error in my settings led to me shooting some at iso 51200 I figured I would try it.

Downloaded the free trial and tested it on one of the images.

WOW!

I still need to adjust the white balance but this was just a test run using the default settings.

I have been using it since v3 and I found v5 something of a disappointment - in some respects I felt it went backwards and I almost regretted upgrading.

Prompted to try v6 on trial after your post and the new XD3 process is very good indeed, pulling detail out of nowhere.

Most importantly, though, it's dealing well with noise where Lightroom/ACR does not (messy shadows that get turned into strange wormholes in space and less even textures on obliquely lit skin). It also seems to be handling text better than before - letter shapes are more recognisably the actual typeface.
