Various DXO software on offer for the next few days including DXO photolab 8 elite reduced to £164 from £209
I’ve been trying it out over the last couple of weeks with thier free trial period
I already had DXO 5 elite and even though the reduction is not as much as previous years still think it’s worth it as DXO is a really excellent RAW converter

Looked at it and like you I'm on DXO 5 elite but the upgrade price doesn't apply and I simply can't justify spending £164.
Together with Affinity Photos (v1) it does all I want now.
I like DXO but the upgrades are like an annual subscription to Adobe!

I've been watching DXO prices spiralling upwards and it's gradually changed my view of it from 'interesting but not quite there' to 'that's far too expensive for what it does'. By the time you add in extra modules for straightening etc it looks really bad value.

£6/months starting to look pretty good for Adobe? ;)

Agree it is expensive but for me at least I feel it’s worth it, the updates are an improvement over version 5
I do all my work on photos with DXO and with all the expense of travelling and gear I think it’s worth it to have decent software
If I assume 3 years before I update, that’s how long roughly I used 5, it’s £55 a year surely that’s not too bad
I use it in combination with Affinity 2

Compared to DXO, sure, but I'd rather spend £120 and then continue using the software until I chose to update without paying again in between. I would especially like it if I could disconnect the computer from the internet and use it like that for as long as the hardware kept working.

Nowadays most photo editing softwares need to phone home once in a while. So it's difficult to go totally disconnected from the internet for a longer period of time.
