Anyone else getting 20% discount emails in various languages every couple of minutes from DXO - very annoying!

Getting 1 per day in English is bad enough.

I have 3: French, German and English, all about 40min apart each.

I've had 20 so far!

Do you use the software still? I've not bought anything from them in years, so perhaps they can't be bothered to spam me. ;)

I do but haven't upgraded for a long while.

9 here as well. Don’t know what they’re regarding as don’t speak the lingo :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Same here. It's disconcerting because when I deciphered the unsubscribe button it took me to a more difficult to translate page that needed me to confirm my email address. But as I never gave it to any foreign sites I didn't go further. Not a good look.

I've got lots too. Only trialled it for a short time a few years ago.

Yes. Just to add to the many scam and unsolicited garbage I get every single day.

Also started getting them in other languages as well, annoying anyway without the extra.

I expect that they are switching to a new email provider and have imported their database of addresses before setting it up fully. Or something like that, rather than anything dodgy.

Hi all, I have just joined your forum so I can apologise for DxO's mess up when we recently sent out mass emails and multiple ones to many of you even in different languages. For that we are sorry. Things got a little messed up our end. We were trying a new email delivery service and someone where where did not quite get the setting right so I want to say we are very sorry for the number of emails that you have received.

Should spend less time messing around with emails and more time making real improvements to Nik Collection instead of charging £80/year for insignificant UI changes and a useless new preset.

I called it.

Sadly it is all too common. Don't ask me how I know...

What features would you like to see added? If we know what these are we might be able to work on those. It is always good to get feedback as it is helpfu

With all due respect, coming up with new ideas is your job. If you can't come up with any new ideas stop ripping people off every year for so called "updates" that just aren't updates.

I stopped using Nik at v5 because of these practices. With all the money I have spent on Nik collection (from the very early days) I still have what seems to be a disjointed, incomplete application.

You remove features (U-point controls) and then after many complaints you put them back in the next version and charge and upgrade fee? You add additional applications then remove them in the next version. It's a joke.

Hi Ecoleman, I asked because I was curious what you thought was missing and you would like to see. We have a roadmap of what is planned of rate future. However it is always good to hear what other people outside of DxO think as to what should be developed to improve our products. We are currently discussing how Ai can be used and how much of the photographers voice needs to be retained in how you use the tools so that the hand of the photographer is still in the process of working on their images. It is a challenge as we all have different ideas on this aspect of digital photography.
Personally my reaction to the increased quality of AI generated images was to buy a film camera and start using that after 20 years of mostly digital image making. It has been a blast using a film camera again, but not everyone wants to return to analog photography and nor should they as digital photography has a lot of advantages as people have been able to learn faster with digital cameras then they ever could with film cameras.

Do you have cataloguing built in now? Lack of DRM has been a deal breaker in the past for me and many others too.

*Edit* AI stuff has limited appeal: great if it makes masking easier, better noise reduction and sharpening, reducing halos from processing - subtle things. But adding a red hut to a mountain view, swapping heads on subjects etc not so much.

More generally, I still use the old version of Silver Efex from before the suite was acquired by DXO. I've not really seen a convincing reason to update, and DXO software does look quite pricey, even at offer prices.

Urgh, AI

If I wanted AI to edit my photos, I just by Luminar whatever it is now and be done with it.
Other than some help with masking or removing unwanted items I don't want AI anywhere near my photos.

I may as well just ask ChatGPT to create me an image instead of hiking out somewhere and being in the moment.

Nik was great as it was. A simple suite of plugins for some added effect, colour, contrast, B&W, Film effects or whatever. It doesn't need to be anything more than that. What we want is for you to modernise but not rip us off for it each year for minute incremental updates to the UI and some silly preset which nobody uses.

Elliot, I followed your link to Flickr you have have some really good images on there. I also love the Nik Collection because it is still a human making selections and not an Ai doing the selections.
I have a video on YouTube about Filmpack where I explore some of the advantages of it as you are working with the Raw File not a tiff file.
