Hi, anyone going this weekend?

Weather keeps changing, so not sure which day i'll pick yet but sunday looks best currently.

I've been before but only to look at the museum side of things so wondering if with my 450d with kit lens i'll be able to get any good shots of the actuall show due to distance from the action?

So any advice on where to position myself etc would be great, also what sort of camera settings i should go for.

You could be OK with the static displays but as for the flying........forget it.
I was hoping to go but the weather forecast isn't very good at present (what do they know anyway).
 
We're planning on going with the boys and my dad... Probably going Sunday as I need to pick up some furniture this weekend too, and Saturday is looking best for that... So look out for me (D200) Mrs OutLore (D40) and OutLore Snr (Fuji S2):thumbs:
 
Hank....... Get there as early as possible, when you get to the flightline, turn right and head towards the land warfare museum. Keep going until you are as far as you can go, there are normally some camper vans parked very near. This is the very closest you will get to the planes in flight, they will go virtually over your head as they bank round. Ive had great shots using a 28-135mm lens.

Might potter along, its usually crap weather whenever they schedule one though :)

Is that west of the American hangar?
 
I'm planning on going specifically to see the Vulcan. However, six appearances this year have been cancelled, and three of them I had prepared myself to go to. Five cancelled due to technical faults and one due to weather, so I'm still undecided whether to make the long journey or not. If the weather's ok I'll give it a go. there's always the other aircraft and the museum.

A trip to Duxford would be highly illogical.
 
For anyone looking to make a special trip, I'm slap bang in the middle of Cambridge (only 6 miles from Duxford) and the sky is featureless, grey and bleak, with rain forecast

Don't make a long journey folks :(
 
Hi the Vulcan bomber did a fly over some 20 years ago over our house as we only live about 2 miles from BEA green-gate where i believe some of it was put together, i was about 16 and remember it doing a last fly over...

no vulcan on the sunday which was a shame. Had lots of rain up to 2pm then it was quite nice, was lucky.

I took your advice dino, worked a treat, got some OK shots from the bigger planes in flight and they used the taxiway near that position to get them back down the other end so got some cool pics as they taxi'd by me.
 
I made it Saturday, weather was pretty good actually. Chucked it down for about 10 minutes mid way through the show but brightened up after that until they called an end to flying at 5ish.

Got some good ones of the Vulcan, though haven't had a chance to edit much yet :(
