Today for the first time I noticed two small specks as I looked through the viewfinder. However the marks dont show up on my pictures. Does this mean the dust is not on my sensor ? Ive cleaned the front and back of my lens twice and the marks are still there. Maybe they are on the focusing screen ?

Definitely sounds like dirt on the focus screen and showing up in the viewfinder. had a few specks like that for a while and got used to them now.
Might be able to shift them with a rocket blower, worth a try and if it doesn't work no biggie to leave them there

The focus screen comes out very easy and can be blown clean with a blower/brush you just need some twizzers
