Something I saw this morning, Dunlop are producing a photobook for charity.

What's your iconic motoring image ?

We are looking for your iconic motoring images for inclusion in a coffee-table photobook celebrating the best and most emotive elements of driving.

So whether you have a photo of some on-track action, a street scene or celebrating fans at the BTCC submit your entry for the chance to see your work in print.

The book will also include images from celebrity driving enthusiasts and racing drivers alongside driving tips and motoring tales. Among the projects supporters are Sky News and Vroom Vroom presenter Jon Desborough and Deals On Wheels, Driven presenter Mike Brewer and Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood.

The book will be on sale later in the year to raise money for the Motorsport Safety Fund which helps aid improvements in safety standards at motorsport events.

All Entries need to be submitted by 31st Aug 2007, all entrants will be judged by a panel of experts with winning images appearing in the Dunlop Photobook.

The website is here

Thanks for that..... If you're not in you can't win.

David.

terms and conditions say that by entering you are giving ownership of the photo to dunlop.
not sure many people will be that keen on that.
i've entered anyway with a watermark on it. they are welcome to have ownership of a photo with my name across it :) and i'll keep ownership of the one without my name across it :)

I like the way they "COMPETITION" seems the only winner is them, hundreds of free images, that they then own.

And they then make money from the book.

The problem is they know how desperate AM snappers are to get somthing published, and boy are they taking advantage.

My Humble opinion.

Hi,

I represent Dunlop, the organisers of this competition. I fully understand your points regarding a prize, or lack of, for the winners.

However, the reason a prize hasn't been offered, is that we are keen for the maximum amount of money raised by the book to be available for our nominated charity - the Motorsport Safety Fund. We hope to have around 50 images included in the book, so if we were to offer additional prizes for each of these we might not have a lot left!

That said, your work will be included in the book with your name and some brief information about you. Hopefully this will be something to be very proud of, not to mention providing exposure for your talents!

We are also running a competition for the Dunlop Photobook in the latest issue of Photography Monthly, out today. By submitting images through this competition, as well as being considered for inclusion in the photobook, a winner chosen by the magazine will spend the day receiving 'tuition' from a top motorsport photographer at a round of the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton in October.

To be clear, we will be asking the winners to allow their image to be included in the book and any associated publicity (which will also mention them) by signing a release form for these purposes only. However, overall copyright of the images will remain with the photographer.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes and good luck,
Dunlop

yeah thanks mr dunlop

that sounds pretty cool actually. having one of my photos published with a bit of credit is prize enough for me

and now, its time to cross my fingers!

one thing i am a little confused about, are you looking for photo's of dunlop sponsored cars or is this a competition for photo's of motoring?? sorry if this is a silly question.

Hi, we are looking for images that communicate the passion of motoring first and foremost, though naturally this may involve motorsport. These images do not have to be linked to Dunlop in any way though.

All images are welcome, whether 4 wheels or two.

I hope this helps.

speak of the devil:

Dear Gary

CONGRATULATIONS!

The image you submitted to www.driversknow.co.uk has been chosen for inclusion in the Dunlop photobook.

Your image, along with around 120 others has been chosen from over 500 entries to be printed in the charity photobook which will be sold on behalf of the Motorsport Safety Fund.

We now need the following details from you:
The spelling of your name / how you would like to be accredited in the book
A sentence or small paragraph describing the image (e.g. where it was taken, what it is and why it encapsulates the ‘thrill of the drive’)
The image re-sending to *** at no less than a resolution of 300dpi
A contact telephone number for you

The book is currently being designed and we hope it will be ready for sale in December. We will contact you again as soon as we have a finalised publishing date.

If you have any queries, please do get in touch. We would be grateful if you could send through the required details as soon as possible in order to help us get the book designed and printed as quickly as possible.

Many thanks,

Well done Gary

I've just got the same Email from Samantha for my "Wall of fire" shot from the bike show in Kent this summer. I wonder how many TP togs have received the same email?

Own up Guys.

David.

the e-mail started off 'dear gary' so she might be doing them semi-manually rather than a mailshot to everyone

yeh mine as dear ed so that rings true ^^^ congrats everyone!
