Dumbass question about 10d and a lens - HELP!

Stupid question alert!! :lol:

My neice has inherited 10d and since I bought my 70-200mm f/4L I haven't used much else (lol) so was going to donate my surplus EF 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II to her but I'm not sure it will work with it? They live 300 miles away on the borders of of Scotland so we don't have the opportunity to try it out before I send it and don't want to send it if it's not going to be any good...

Anyone know?

Yes that lens will work all the canon EF lenes will, I am not sure about the EFS, It is the only model I have not used in XXD range
 
Graham is correct. That lens - and any Canon EF lens - will work just fine on a 10D.

Canon EF-S lenses (such as the 10-22mm, 18-55mm, 17-85mm, 60mm macro etc.) will not mount on a 10D and cannot be used.
 
iriches thanks for confirming the situation on the EFS lenses, I only have the 18 -55 which is never used

quick query, the canon ef-s range lenses are designed for crop bodies, i would have thought they would work on the 10d as well
 
No the EFS lenes were not about when the 10d (or d30 & d60) were released and these only take the EF lenes, where as the 20d onwards and all the xxxD seies take the EFs lenes
 
AFAIK my 1dmkII doesn't take ef-s .. or am I wrong ?
 
Kipax - the EFs lenses only fit the xxxD (300D 350D 400D and 450D) and xxD series from 20D onwards (20D 30D 40D) they DONT fit the 5D or 1D series or the D30 D60 10D
