So I'm thinking of taking a wonder over to the Duke of Lancaster ship tomorrow. Does anyone know if access is easy or even open to the public? I don't want to board her just have a look around and maybe make a couple images.

Thanks.

No chance. Even the urbex boys struggle.
There is a path on the other side of the beck that allows you to get side on but don't try and cross over. It's a mud bath and you will sink.
On the other side it is fenced off with a serious bit of kit. You "can" work your way onto the beach and get to it that way albeit with a struggle but they now have a 24 hour security guard on site and he will chase you off.
No idea why they need security because no one is going to steal it and you need seriously long ladders to get in.
Before the guard was installed we got to it and went up the platform on the Quay side but access to the ship from that wasn't possible. We beat a hasty retreat when rusty bits started falling off around us.
So yes you can get close. If you just want to see her the best bet is to go on the path across the beck. It's full of graffiti now.
Hardly worth the trip just for that.
What time are you going? I'm off to Llanrwst/Anglesey etc early tomorrow for a full day out.

Thanks Mike.
I was going to go in the afternoon for a couple hours but will leave it now and head to nant mill and the water falls and with any luck autumn colours.

Ah yes. I've heard of it.
Good luck. I'll stick to Snowdonia.
The lure of Pete's Eats is hard to ignore.

The fun ship was. /is used for storage by solitaire clothing hence the security guard ,there is also a local movement to now get it scrapped as it's becoming a eyesore

Thanks Jeff. Should have guessed you would know what us going on.
They'll have fun getting rid of it. Only one propellor and that is bent beyond use. Don't suppose the engines will work. Will it even float? Suppose they'll have to cut it up like the wreck near the stone jetty a few years ago.

Sat on Pete's Eats waiting for my bacon bap lunch. Off to Anglesey next. It's a hard life.

well I really enjoyed Nant mill and it was very quiet, which is awesome after the noise of town life. Not many people but did have a natter with a fellow photographer.
