Or, in plain Eng;ish, "Don't use acronyms to show how clever you are"!

We had a discussion about this before but it keeps coming back. I think the polite thing to do, if you feel you must use acronyms, is to write the words, followed by the acronym in brackets, when you first use the term in a post. Then, if you feel you must use the acronym, the reader at least has a chance to follow the conversation.

Unless, of course, your intention is to surprise the reader when they, eventually, find out what your acronym means...

This is in fact correct grammatical usage, as I'm sure you are aware, as well as being polite - and also, not to put too fine a point on it (NTPTFAPOI) good communication.
