Off to the Dominican in a week and currently have a Canon G7, Canon S3-IS and a carry anywhere Fuji F31fd.

I fine the S3 fun to use, but not very ergo- friendly. The G7 is a nice camera, but i find it lacking at the wide end.

I was thinking of leaving the G7 and S3 at home (To be sold when i get home ;) ) and going for a DSLR and a couple of lens'.

Had a 400d when they were on very special offer from tesco, but did not like the feel of it, so it went back to them.

Is it worth changing to a DSLR or is it not advisable to carry such stuff around in the dominican?

Would be looking at the Pentax K10D or Nikon D80 and the 10-20mm Sigma (Damn you Pete ) and something with a bit more reach - like the 18-135.

No real budget, but would like some change from £1000 - £1200

any advise greatly appreciated.

What didnt you like about the 400D?

Didn't feel right where i gripped it on the right hand side.

Not got big hands (Not small either), but found it gave me cramp in my right hand around my thumb after a short while.

Well if you want a DSLR that is chunkier I'd either go with the Nikon D80 or the Canon 30D but by jumping up to the Canon you're talking quite a bit more cash outlay but a great camera that you won't have to replace because you've grown out of your first purchase.

off down to Jessops later tonight to have a 'play', but i like the feel of the D80 and the K10D.

Decisions, decisions :D

In that price range you can get a D200 and the 18-200VR from Kerso and not need to upgrade for many years. The D200 feels superb imo.;)

Regards

David.
