Well after singing the praises of DSCL for several months I also have to post to mention a recent issue I've had with their prints, specifically gloss

I ordered a gloss landscape print to enter into a UK competition soon but the 1st copy I received was badly scratched, o.k things happen...

I requested a replacement which they sent quickly, unfortunately it turned out to be a someone elses familiy portrait, not a shot of a Welsh lighthouse !!

Contacted them again & they sent another replacement, this time around the print has several large fingerprint marks all over it, none of which can be removed..looks like it was handled carelessly whilst not quite dry.

I've emailed them now to request a refund rather than risk another dodgy gloss print

Hopefully this is just a glitch, perhaps due to the Christmas rush and I'll probably still use them in future, their lustre prints have always been excellent. Just thought I would balance out my previously 100% positive comments

Simon

I have used dscolourlabs twice after discovering them on here.

I have to say both sets of photos were geat.

Lets hope it is just a glitch and normal business is resumed.

I used them to print off a load of their school print sheets. They were all purchased.

100% happy with them.

I've stopped using them.

I got scratched prints, and one gloss with a big blotch in the finish.

They once enclosed a little note in one of my orders, asking me to not order mixed paper types in the same order (yeah right, so order separate and pay twice postage!?!?) and to also use their new ordering option instead of the option for Mac users!!! Well obviously I use a Mac, because I use the Mac ordering option, so why would I order with their new system which is not Mac compatible???

I was rather bemused by this note, so raised it with them. They responded by saying - ignore the note!!!!

I now use Photobox :)

photobox prints have started to come back very dark, thats why i changed.

I found DSCL to be just as bad mind. I tend to lighten my pics nowadays, and they come back spot on :)

I used them to print off a load of their school print sheets. They were all purchased.

100% happy with them.

I'm trying them this week for the school sheets - and I've got EVERYTHING crossed. These will be last minute gifts for the parents.

God, I hope everything turns out ok!

Edit: Just to add to this, I was a little disappointed that I had to post my images for the school prints and couldn't upload them in the conventional way. I'm pretty worried that either my CDROM doesn't get to them and gets lost in the Christmas post!

At the moment I'm shopping out the same print to various printers to compare service and quality etc, DSCL have already let me down in that I can't order the size print I want on their Mac ordering system, I have to find a PC. It isn't like lots of photographers use Macs or anything...

I only use DSCL and have been 100% happy with the hundreds of prints i have ordered from them.

You always get one or two problems, granted, and i just hope that you were unlucky with your print.

I am waiting for large order from them, hope its alright! They have always been good in the past though.

Ive never had a problem print wise but what does grate on me is the postage options, To upload your prints before the 1pm deadline and hope for them next day you have to pay courier or special both at £7 a go. Now when I get the prints I send recorded/registered and they get to my customers the next morning, DSCL say if they done that it could take upto 14 days, I know it maybe a royal mail fault but to me its as if there forcing you to pay the dearer option and am convinced if you dont they just hold back parcels for day or 2, Me? Cynical ? ;)

I dont think anyone is beyond messing up an order, after all they are only human at the end of the day. I have had order go missing from LoxleyColour - their fault or Royal mail, still yet to be decided... but everyone is human. I'd personally at this moment, much rather order from togsprint, cos I know where he lives ;) [insert evil laugh]
