Does anyone use the Mavic 3? I'm photographing at a Golf course and they asked if I had a drone and I wondered if it was time to look into buying one.

I work for schools and do the occasional wedding, so I'd find other uses for it...

A few years ago one school asked me if I did drone photography, but based on the 50 metre rule there is a very SMALL window of space I could use a drone without getting a GVC with annual renewal. I'm not sure my usage would warrant a yearly fee.

Whilst I couldn't use the drone here (red area marks 50m from public spaces), there are other schools on bigger land.

Any advice on what to buy?

I have a Mini 3 Pro, sub 250g, Open Category A1 sub category. No CofC required. You can fly over uninvolved people, not crowds. I'm very happy with the image quality. I have posted some images on TP in my Churches thread.

thanks, it's on my radar now - will be looking at it.

I ordered the DJI Mini 3 Pro :)

I think i'll just work it into some of my sports photography too, surprise the schools :D

It is a brilliant little drone. And with the <250g weight it can be used almost anywhere! Enjoy ;)

I think the Mini 3 Pro is a great choice for the lack of restrictions especially as the UK doesn't seem to know what it's going to do with future restrictions. I was considering getting a Mavic 3 when it gained the C1 certification however now the UK isn't going to use that certification.

I had a lot of work on and it was late at night I first got to try it, my expectancy was that it would be perfect in its ability to stabilise and hover :)

I tried it in my lounge, when the propellers started I realised this may not be a good idea.

But I tried it anyway, it veered around a bit too much and with very little room for error I managed to hit a couple of pieces of furniture.. yes I tried it twice. I did a manual take off second time and it was drifting to one side, which was concerning!

It’s been windy all weekend but I did try it in the garden briefly, hovering above a slab and telling it to land did not go as perfectly as I’d hoped! But it’s all a learning curve.

Before I flew mine I watched about 3hrs of video on YouTube. I found that a great help. Then I flew for the first time out in the countryside.

I've had drones more than ten years and daren't fly it in a typical house room
The number of people who impatiently do this as new owners is ridiculous.
Outside in tight garden with trees all around is a bad idea too.

I did look into videos about flying them indoors first :D but yea I won't be doing it again.
