Drive letter assignment for card reader

Windows (11) will not automatically assign a drive letter to it, when I insert a card. I have to manually go into disk management every time, and assign a letter. I have tried doing this and it hasn't fixed the problem:

Have you tried all of the USB ports?
Have you tried another cable?
