Dr Who

Never seen Red Dwarf, but I don't think it was as good an episode as it should have been to signify the end of that dr.

I quite like Dr Who but have to disagree on that last episode.
I thought it was pretty crap TBH :(

Oh and point taken about the star bug too!

For some reason, I never got drawn into these new Doctor Who shows. I started watching when Christopher Eccleston was in the role but soon stopped. As a kid, I grew up with the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker stories, and I've been collecting them on DVD over the years, including some of the early William Hartnell episodes.

The low budget is very clear to see - wobbly sets, rubber monsters and dodgy "special effects". Must be a nostalgic thing I guess.

The didn't film the earlier episodes in HD because the special effects costs skyrocket in HD, now it is in HD the story needs to be very good if they're cutting back on the effects, this story was very simple with nothing to draw you in.

Blink (weeping angels) was the episode that shows how much the writing matters, my kids were terrified for days after watching it which is how I remember Dr Who in the Pertwee days, Blink showed how it's not the cast that makes it because the Doctor was barely in it

not keen on the new doctor he is just wrong hope he grows on me !

the writing has always been a bit slack on these new Who episodes, Davis is going and Moffat is doing the writing for the new season. Less star trek style technobabble, less running and getting overexcited, and a bit more story would be very welcome.

Wasn't just kids that had to go to be with the light on for a few weeks afterwards. I know Adults that still get creeped out at that episode.

Given that Moffat wrote the Blink episode we could be in store for some quality later this year. I have also just read on a radio interview Moffat said that the Angels will return in 2010, better get some night lights in :D

I also note that Moffat wrote Coupling - a series that I still laugh at regardless of how many times I watch an episode

Lots of weirdness with that last story wasn't there.

Bernard Cribbins was just fantastic and without him the whole thing might have fallen flat for me. There was also a feeling that since it was the end of the Russell Davis era, as well as David Tennant's, they took the choice to destroy everything that had been built up over the last few years. It had much more the feel of a final ending than a handing over, which somehow just seemed a bit disrespectful to the new crew.

Also, thinking back to Christopher Ecclescake, who I liked in the role alot. He will always be to Doctor Who what Timothy Dalton is to Bond. A nice rounding off there.

Oh..... as to the original question, blatantly Starbug. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

twas starbug lol

Moffat does write good and I'm v fond of coupling

I think all new Sr Who's are dodgy, I disliked david tennant then he grew on me, I massively didn't like christofer ecclestone at the tim but if I watch his eps now I like them

Yep twas the starbug... ;)

As for Moffat, he wrote all the scary see less, jump behind the sofa more type episodes if I recall correctly... Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, the Empty Child and the Doctor Dances for instance, along with Blink.
