Yes
Missus has a phone booked in to be delivered yesterday.. I'm on half day so thought we might get lucky, unfortunately when the delivery slot is sent through id already be at work.
Given the option to choose a nominated neighbour as safe place and local pickup are not an option.. Ask them to deliver to my dads house, its only a few houses down the road and on the list of addresses classed as neighbours.
He's retired so is mostly free and says he'll be in between 12.50-1.50 which is the delivery time.

12.55, the missus gets a notification to say it cant be delivered with a lovely picture of our house from the road... text my dad and he's seen the van drive past his house without stopping at that time. Don't know if you've ever tried to contact a person at DPD, its a struggle.

She spoke to someone yesterday evening, very apologetic, can't see why the driver would have done that and said it would be made sure it'll be delivered tomorrow to the preferred neighbour.

Get a text at this morning, it'll be delivered between 9.30-10.30, speak to my dad, he's fine with waiting in again but has something to do this afternoon. Fast forward to around 9.40 this morning, another message saying we weren't in with a different photo of our house. Spoke to my dad, no-ones been to his house again either.
Call to DPD again, this time they say they will contact the Sheffield Depot, speak to the driver and get them to call the missus...
She gets a call saying they are sorry and will try to deliver between 1.30 and 2.30 today, request that its delivered after 5pm, this is a no as that specific driver finishes at 3. So we now we have the option of asking my dad to wait in again for someone who might not turn up (id put money on it), or we can go ourselves after work to the depot to pick it up.

Agghhhh, a******e driver, Don't see why its so hard to follow a simple instruction!!!

Rant over!

Some retailers will specify that delivery can not be made to a different address to prevent fraud (especially for high value goods). Pain in the arse yes, but if your phone wasn't delivered to you, you would be demanding a refund either via the retailer or your card issuer. A mobile phone is high value, desirable and high risk goods.

Sure DPD should have told you that, if that is the case, but usually you are talking to a bod in a call centre miles away from the depot.

At the end of the day, if you've ordered something and you know it's being delivered, wait in for it.

Get it delivered to work I have to say I do for all small items from post or couriers now adays.

I used them and all was good , Parcel left in my safe place , card photographed , put through my letterbox and a email with photo of card and my safe place , All good on this occasion

This, Royal Mail won't deliver Special Next Day Delivery anywhere but the address on the item

Why didn't you just ask your Dad to wait at your house during the allotted delivery time.

Because we have 2 keys to our house, and both me and my partner need one?

Also why should he? They've said it would be delivered to his and it hasn't been..

The retailer has specified it can be delivered to our house or a nominated neighbour... Which we chose to have done, the depot have confirmed this.

Not really possible when you work full time and they wont deliver on weekends or after 3pm. Don't agree to do something if you can't do it.

If they sent a picture of your front door they would have taken it themselves. Most delivery drivers don’t get paid if the item isn’t delivered. It’s not like a postman just not bothering. Surely you could have it delivered to one of your workplaces or a pick up place which is often a local shop who will hold it for a week for you. Maybe get your dad in for a hearing check

Sorry for mistake over your apparently not deaf dad but dpd do use pickup shops.
(Memo to self:- don’t make mistakes... people obviously assume you are did dyslexic)

I think attacking someone's dad is a little bit worse than pulling someone up for not paying attention to the original post..

And DPD wont use a pick up shop as Tesco have specified not to apparently.

I think it depends on who the driver is, we seem to be lucky with our DPD bloke. Other delivery companies arent so good though.

I sign for next door's RMSDs quite often.

Honestly never had a problem with them before, delivery drivers we have are normally quite good. Not really sure why this one has struggled so much.

I've had a text off my Dad about an hour ago to say its now been delivered, ignoring the time that the depot said he would be there again but at least we have it.

Nobody attacked anybody ... don’t be so bloody stupid...

DPD do local shop drop offs they do in Mirfield Where I live you simply find your nearest here

I'm not sure how many times I need to say this before its understood.

This wasn't an option on this delivery, the sender specified delivery address or specified neighbour, trust me we would have chose our local Halfords which we always do if this was the case.

Just don't tell the bosses, it's against the rules and your postie could get dismissed

Just keep repeating it.... Ill get the hang of it eventually
:)

Can't you just go online with the link they send you and have it delivered to a local DPD pickup point?

I think he's fishing...

Their delivery drivers need to learn to reverse. Next door had their gate ripped off last week by one of their drivers using their drive to turn round.

Been doing it since I moved in (2006), and rarely the same postman 2 days running.
Certainly works for us :-)
Now, if I could just get them to stop littering the drive with bloody elastic bands......

He needs a bigger hook.... couldn’t you give him one of yours

Not sure if you are on the wind up, badly or this is just how you are?

Anyway, good luck and goodbye

When our postie gets to ours, he sorts his mail outside, and dumps the elastic bands on the pathway. I pick them up, and make them into an elastic band ball, for our dog. :)

Ooooh! that does not sound like too good an idea......if one or more snap and then get swallowed!!!

I tend to make them so if they do snap, they are held into place, and do not come apart. I only let her play with it, when I am with her, I make sure she is safe while playing. :)

Maybe looking to see how many sense of humour failures I could spot in one thread....
Hope you get your delivery anyway

Oh well I won't argue with someone who obviously knows more about Royal Mail rules then me, who actually worked for them
for nearly 30 years

Jesus....tetchy much?
I only know what happens where I live, pointing out that RM's "rules" clearly aren't applied across the board.
