Managed to drop my "3" mobile dongle whilst shooting at Chelsea on Tuesday night. It punted out of my laptop, bounced onto my backpack and onto the concrete floor, where it somehow found it's way down a small drain hole full of water.

I managed to fish it out through the soaking fag ends, hair and other indescribable gunge. Dried it off, plugged it in and it was still working. Best result on the night, definitely better than the match and my pics seeing as the goals were all at the wrong end.

Lol! Bad luck and good luck all in one, neat package. I bet your heart missed a beat when you saw it vanish down the drain!
I can't imagine the horror of putting your hand down the drain tho, that brings up a pretty grim image!!!

Tobers, you always have the best stories! It's also a reason to have a back up.

I thought I'd lost mine the other week at Charlton. When I'd switch sides at half time, I thought it had dropped out. It had dropped out, just it was right by where I was sat! Doh!

Now I just need to find my missing gloves!

Both dits are a seriously good reason for looking at the Three MiFi card, especially now that the new E586 transmits over the HSPA+ network.

No need to plug it into the laptop, just have it sitting in your pocket and connect to it with Wifi. As toys go, it's fantastic! :)

Or if you have Blackberry you can also use bluetooth to connect to your laptop and use their desktop manager. Really easy to use.

Or if you have a laptop with inbuilt 3G, you can leave one card in the laptop and use others as backup.

I have multiple options as it happens, with 3, Vodafone and Orange dongles plus an iphone with personal hotspot capability like the 3 mifi thingy.

Charlie next to me was laughing as I grovelled around - nothing but fun this football lark. For some reason I always have an eventful time at Chelsea.

Reading FC on Saturday, I'll have some velcro with me.

And Gaffer tape. You can never ever have enough of it!

A few feet of gaffer tape are wrapped around my monopod.

I was at a talk by a mountain rescue medic once. His recommendation for a minimum adequate first aid kit for the mountains - 2 or 3 sterile dressings, a pair of surgical gloves, and a roll of gaffer tape!
Secure the dressings with it, tape a broken limb to an improvised splint with it, use it as a band aid if you have to....
