I will be in Dordogne from next Friday for a week, and would like a few ideas for where to shoot?

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Thanks

Whereabouts are you going to be staying?

Rocamadour is good not far away. I wouldn't go in August though it's heaving, should be reasonable now.
Just follow the river really, the hard part will be finding places to quickly stop with a car.

Ah, we're just north of Nontron so you are about as far from me as you can get in the Dordogne!! South and SE of Bergerac you get the classic SW France bastides towns like Monpazier (my favourite), Villefranche du Périgord and Eymet. East along the river, you'll find beautiful towns like Sarlat, Le Roque Gageac, Domme (good for a summer sunset over the river) and Limeuil, castles like Castelnaud and Beynac and Marqueyssac gardens, all of which are worth a visit and, with the exception of Limeuil, they are all very close to each other! West of Bergerac I'm not so familiar with but St Emilion is beautiful and there are plenty of vineyards/chateaux worth a visit around the town!

Yeah, Rocamadour is beautiful but it is at least 45 minutes or so further away than Domme etc....worth the drive though!

Thank you.

I'll check those places out.

I'll have a car, so can definitely drive a few hours to places. Is there anywhere worth a visit on the coast?

Dune de Pyla (or Pilat) near Arcachon is worth seeing (it's the tallest in Europe). IMG17319a.jpg I don't know how far you want to go, but if you go a couple of hours north up the coast to Royan, Cordouan lighthouse, 7km out to sea, is well worth a visit. IMGP7983a.jpg I have been trying to get there for about 7 years and got as far as booking a trip in April but came down with flu the day before I was supposed to be going!! The beaches are also fantastic and to the north of La Palmyre (which also has a nice zoo), there are some big dunes, forests and lovely, rough the seas on the Cote Sauvage! :) IMGP8142fb.jpg
