Edit My Images
Yes
Did a wedding on the weekend, got home late, downloaded and backed up the pics, then as part of my "system" the cards go in an envelope and a fresh set in the cameras.
Next day I edit the pics of the one camera. Then switch to the camera I'd shot the bridal prep on, running through these I get to the service, and notice, I'd taken pics of the dress hanging up and I haven't seen them..
Then I realise I haven't seen the hdr of the building I'd done,... Odd, I've some got pics missing.
Get the cards back out and notice I'd missed a folder of pics when I downloaded the others. Dohh!
Thats why it's important to A not download when your knackered, and B dont format the cards until you are happy. In my case thats handing the pics over when they are finished.

Excellent advice!

For decades, I've used the grandfather, father, son strategy for all my own data and I've tried to influence customers who weren't doing it to do so. It's the minimum necessary to make sure your data is there when you need it. On top of this, archiving off site is worth doing as a backstop.

Errors or should that be Orrors will happen About the 2nd or 3rd wedding I photographed which was about 1998ish I processed the colour film in temperature that was too low. Some were printable but others decidedly not - by me anyway. I trawled around processing houses in Sussex where I lived at the time and one company were happy to take on the work; successes or fail I would have to pay them. Fair enough. It was two films out of 7 that were affected. And print them they did and they were hardly distinguishable from the films that had been processed at the right temperatures. A very big sigh of relief! I never made that mistake again.

A very good friend of mine had a motto- 'Never make the same mistake once!' I should have listened to him.

It sounds pretty scary for a professional, it would be just annoying for me. I need to buy a second card!

Thanks Wayne, sage advice (y)

I read that expecting you to say that you'd accidentally formatted a card with pics on it... I was so relieved that there was a happy ending! (not as relieved as you though I guess!) :)
