What the hell, in for a penny and all that! I have been resisting a 52 as I didn't manage to finish last years but I seem to be doing ok on my 365 so thought I may as well use a shot a week as the theme for a 52, so it's not really extra work is it? :nailbiting::nailbiting:

Week 1 - Linear / Line
Week 2 - Play
Week 3 - Close
Week 4 - Bubble
Week 5 - Smoke / Smokey
Week 6 - Mineral
Week 7 - Sense
Week 8 - Ending
Week 9 - Positive
Week 10 - Time

Week 1 Linear / Line: Converging Lines

This is the Silver Faces sculpture on Silver Street in Bedford Town Centre.

I used the fisheye effect to emphasise the converging line effect to try and give them a dramatic presence.

Week 2 - Play: Press Play

A simple macro shot of my sky remote using the 5d and manual extension tubes on an old m42 50mm prime lens. A simple and cheap way into macro photography.

Week 3 - Close: A close up of a simple bottle of HP Brown Sauce, my favourite!

Yes, it’s not exciting I know but it’s windy and raining outside so when life gives you lemons, think of something else to take a picture of!

Anyway this was shot using my shortest manual extension ring, lit purely by the grey daylight coming through the patio doors and just to make it a bit different and creative I’ve given it a vintage look using a sepia tone and heavy vignette.

Week 4 - Bubble

These were a lot harder to catch than I thought!

I used some blowing bubbles from the pound shop but every time they landed on the surface they popped, the trick seems to be to blow them onto a wet surface, i.e. where there's a film of water already but you have to be quick as they do move on the water!

Week 5 - Smoke / Smokey: Where there's smoke

This is a shot with my new fisheye of Bedford's old Town Hall which is scheduled for demolition.
It appears a fire started at about 3am and took approximately 10 engine tenders to get it under control.

Week 6 - Mineral: Mineral Water

Shot in broad daylight on an ironing board in my dining room, but with the curtains closed nearly all the way just allowing a chink of light to act on the edges of the glass and the bottle.

Well caught up Paul :D Good images, bubble I really like (y) mineral, as you say, lit it in such a way as to highlight the label and glass but, overall, it just looks a little too dark for me :)

Hi Paul

that's some catch up mister

Mineral....lovely product type shot , the chink of light works really well to highlight the edge of the bottle & give's some shape to the glass (y) Just a smidge too dark on the lower area of the bottle maybe as it blends almost completely with the bg ?

Bubbles....tricky little blighters ain't they ? Like the shapes you've got there the hint's of rainbow colors :)& thanks for the hint about blowing them on to a wet surface

The 2 fisheye shots whilst perfectly on theme , sharp & well exposed , don't do anything for me due to the curves....sorry

Cracking stuff. I rather like the statues, the fish-eye effect has worked well; makes one wonder why they sell fish-eye lenses when software can do this. It's also a bit worrying as it seems we can create entire photographs these days without going anywhere near a camera.

Fire engines, nice as they are, don't rock my boat as an answer to the theme.

The bubbles are good, I like the shadows they've made rather than the bubbles themselves.

The mineral bottle is a pleasing image as it is, any brighter and you would lose impact I thnk.

Play and Close: Pretty neutral over these. I have often thought about getting some extension tubes but when my Fuji X20 can focus to practically nothing I don't think I would gain anything.

Good catch up and welcome aboard.

Of the set, and I'll comment on your next submissions, but of these linear stands out. Cracking pice of art. Long exposure would be to get rid of the people, if you wanted to, that is.

Cheers.

hi Paul, good catch up (y)

I like the statues but my eyes are drawn the sports traider sign on the right!

The bubble shot is excellent, simple and very sharp (y)

I think the fish eye effect on the fire engines works really well and a good choice for the theme.

The mineral bottle is an excellent product shot, I like how dark it is, just a tiny splash of light needed on the bottom RHS of the bottle.

Nice work excellent catch up.

the bubble pic is the stand out shot for me.

Good catch up :)

Mineral is the best of the lot for me, I rather like the minimal "ghetto" lighting

Hi, well caught up. Some cracking images there to start with, I love the simplicity of Play and I like the lighting in mineral however I don't think the image for smoke is really grabbing the theme.
Look forward to seeing more from you.

John

Thanks all for the welcome :)

I have to admit, on the smoke theme that it's a tenuous link but it's my interpretation so :p:p

Just messing ;)

Now what I need to do is start going through the other threads and get joining in!!!

Great set of shots and well done for the mega catch up. Look forward to seeing your work in future weeks.

What a catch up! Welcome aboard Paul.

Linear/Line – Great subject. A pity it’s where it is as the surroundings are a bit distracting
Play – On theme and a nice and bright image
Close – I’m not sure the shallow DoF works on this as I find the cap a little to fuzzy
Bubble – You’ve captured some nice bubbles with a hint of colours in them. Nice off centred composition
Smoke – The part of the photo that I feels works best here is the left hand side where the use of a wide angle as distorted the fire engine giving it more interest than the one in the background
Mineral – Superbly lit. Best one of this bunch. Lighting these isn’t easy and you’ve cracked it absolutely. Well done

Thanks all, really fell behind with my 365 this week due to doing night shifts but just did my catchup and included my Sense shot in that so here it is.

Week 7: Sense (of Taste)
Lunchtime, steaming hot mug of coffee alongside a bacon, egg, hashbrown and black pudding sandwich! MMMMMMMM!

Sense- looks good enough to eat Paul :D Sandwich/ bread looks well exposed, like the fact you've caught the steam rising off it showing its still hot (y). If anything for me, possibly a different composition. The handle of the mug is lost in the bg, having it behind the right half of the sandwich may have worked :)

End- Good idea, Composition wise works well for me (y) possibly looks a little dark in the foreground
