Hi

I've had a late chance to get to Donington for the WSB next Friday and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a few good photo spots.

Apologies for asking as I normally try and do a couple of days when I'm visiting somewhere for the first time and work out what I think are the best locations but unfortunately I can't do it on this occasion so any help would be grateful. I would rather not waste shooting time scouting locations if possible. The sun looks like it could be a problem for big parts of the track so any pointers for a good place in the morning and one for the afternoon would be greatly appreciated. Ideally I will be looking for 3 different location to shoot the 3 suberbike sessions on the day.

The longest combo I'll have with me is the Canon 400 F5.6 and a 7D. I'll also have the 5D3 and 70-200 F2.8 and a 1.4 tcon on the day.

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Gary

Are you trackside?
I like shooting at Coppice in the morning, as the sun is behind you and you can catch the bikes coming over the crest. The background is also uncluttered if you get the right spot. It's a bit of a trek, but if you ask at the main paddock entrance, they'll call a minibus for you - ask for Coppice or Gate 10.
Another morning site, is infield at the bottom of the Craner Curves.
Later in the day, infield at the Esses (National circuit) or Goddards (full circuit) is a popular spot. The outside of Redgate towards Hollywood is also good later in the day.
Hope that helps

Coppice will still work as you can get right up to the fence and shoot 'through' it - same goes for the inside of Goddards. I'm assuming it'll be the full circuit for WSB, so the outside of the Melbourne Loop - near the Esses, has a raised bank that allows you to shoot over the fence as the bikes come through the Esses.
