Hi All,

As per the title I am doing a trackday at the weekend and will be handing over the camera to girlfriend to take some snaps.

As above its at Silverstone Stowe Circuit, I have no idea what the viewing area will be like any ideas?

With no information on viewing I was going to give her the 7d with a 100-300 lens on a monopod and hope for the best.

Any tips that will give her some shots she will be pleased with? Should I leave on auto?

Thanks

Ivan

Forgot to mention that she has no real interest in photography but appreciates a nice photograph so will be pleased if she gets a good snap or two

Lens choice sounds good to me. I'd stick it in TV mode and give her a quick lesson in shutter speed (she can try some different levels a sharpness/blurriness then). Probably auto iso is the best, AI servo mode. Just make sure she has a large empty card (or two) to use. A change of battery, (show her how to change both) then tell her to keep firing away and have fun.
I'm assuming she's an absolute beginner. I did something similar with my Mrs here (wide angle lens though so much easier to focus and I was composing..):

Timmy, thanks to your tips and a quick tutorial she took a few decent shots of me in the single seater especially given that its the second time she has held a SLR!

Although it seem less sharp on flickr than from the original jpeg
