Here I am in the Highlands, 7 hours from home, some fantastic scenery around and my battery chargers at home on the stand near the telly. Got 3 batteries, two are half full if I'm lucky and ones on its last legs and I've still got 4 days to go :-(
Going to have to be very careful, will be like shooting film again!

Nightmare, made worse by the fact that batteries discharge quicker in the cold so they may not last as long as you may think in this cold weather.

How far from civilisation are you - is there no way you can get your hands on a charger?

Thats a challenge then Rob, I always carry those battery clips that take AA's just in case mine fail (not that im any good or away from my charger for long) but you never know

I suppose this is one case for having a grip, as most can take AA batteries as well.

You're right though... it will stop you machine gunning.... I reckon your photography will benefit from having to really think about whether you even switch the camera on.

Edit the title location and need there's nearly 7000 active members here chances are someone local can help

Good call Matt!

Still cant believe I've done this :-|

going to Inverness tomorrow (today!) anyone know anywhere I might get a charger? apart from ffordes? £70 is too much at this time.

I don't know of anywhere up that way but if all else fails and you're in Inverness for a few hours, Ffordes might charge them up for you if you explain your situation and offer them a few quid for their trouble.

To help conserve what power you have left, keep the rear screen turned off as much as possible, likewise the light on the top panel (if there is one).

Probably too late for today's Inverness trip but there are universal chargers available for way less than £70. I've just picked one up for £30 from LCE (actually, it came "free" with a 2nd hand compact that was missing its original charger - the compact cost me £35 inc the charger [which was price ticketed at £30]). The charger's branded as a Hahnel UniPal plus and will charge either 4.2 or 8.4 volt LiIon batteries or a pair of AA/AAA NiCd/NiMH cells. There's also a USB slot for charging iPods etc. Comes packaged with GB and Euro mains plugs and will also work on a 110V supply - has a car lead too. If I hadn't got one in that deal, I would have bought one anyway as a single charger solution for all my batteries!

Amazon link... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hahnel-Unipal-Universal-Battery-Charger/dp/B009LM3V5E so you can see what I'm on about. Others exist - try a half decent electrical shop.

Thanks for the replies guys - Latest update - I have a charger, Went to Ffordes but they were closed for the BH :-(
Popped into Currys of all places in Inverness and picked up a Kodak universal charger for £28. I can confirm I have a battery on charge!!
Lets hope I can justify the purchase with a few good photos!
