Hi all,

I was just wondering has anyone experience of using an eye-fi wireless sdcard (the pro x2 version)? Does it slow down the fps of the camera body? From what I've read it seems like it can be a major drain on the battery?

thanks!

fps is really down to size of the buffer and image size. Yes it will but a drain on the battery while its transmitting but wouldnt have thought it would be much. Personally I dont use eyefi as I prefer the Canon wft-2 IMO much better and reliable with a greater range but higher purchase price.

thanks for the response Graham - that's more or less what I expected plus the I guess the actual write speed of the card will impact the fps as well

They all play a part but mainly the buffer. Images will stay there until they have been written to the memory card and from there transmitted. Looking in your view finder should tell you the size of your buffer and how many images can be stored there.

A useful feature would be to only transmit the selected images. ie the one you protect in camera... not sure if it does this but worth looking into.

The newer ones can be set to this, yep

Interesting. Do you use this for sports editorial jobs? I've heard of people tethering pitch-side to get them into the computer quicker, but its not something i've really thought of doing. One of my jobs out on the pitch is laptop battery management anyway, so the less I ask it to do the better!

No never used it pitchside just good old fashioned card swop. Have heard of a couple of instances of people using it but never came accross them at games.
