Does anyone use a hotshoe thumb grip?

They seem popular on Fuji cameras. Not really sure what the point of them is! Are they just for ergonomics?

Use one on my Fuji XE-3.

Much, much easier to hold with one hand and easier to use thumb buttons.

I use them on my X-T2s and my Leica M9s also used them on my X-Pro1s I find they just complete the grip nicely like back in the day we used to hook our thumbs behind the wind on lever.

So it seems mostly for the rangefinder-style bodies - apart from Topsy’s X-T2. I guess small digital bodies don’t have much space that’s not covered with buttons.

I had one for my X-E1 but didn't bother when I picked up the X-T2. It has much better ergonomics. Although to be honest as Paul says, when shooting film I almost always hook my thumb behind the wind on lever (if it has one)

I wouldn't normally bother, but the camera i just bought had one - I took it off and immediately decided to put it back on.
