If adding data to a usb stick makes it heavier? :)

A bit heavier, perhaps.

Instead of all zeroes, you'll have lots of ones and they're represented by a charge, so you'll have the weight of the hancuffs on the charged ones... :exit:

Only if you unplug it without demounting it first.

Demounting it allows the electrons to get back to the computer before unplugging. If you just yank it out they are trapped in the stick.

No. As in "I know the answer and it is that they do not gain weight".

There's a popular article from several years ago claiming they get lighter the more data you store but that has been disproved. There's an immeasurably small theoretical weight gain but this is outweighed by the plastic decaying over time - i.e. the plastic loses more mass because of the gasses it gives off than you can possibly add by storing data. And plastic really doesn't decay very fast.

Surely, if you can smell anything, it must be shedding particles to be smelled so must be getting lighter?

Pretty sure that data is without measurable mass.

Does this mean that if I don't wash for long enough then the stink I emit will mean that my diet is working?

It's the best way to lose weight.

It will be lighter as most data is cloud based so will be inclined to float upwards .

Of course adding Bits makes it heavier, but it will change if someone takes a Byte. ;)
