Does anyone have multiple Nikons with the 22mm round eyepiece? I need your help...

Yes
I'm prototyping an eyepiece adaptor that allows the round eyepiece to accept the rectangular slip-on type accessories (right angle finder, eyecup, etc). This project arose due to another wildlife photographer friend commenting on how much they hate having to screw/unscrew accessories in the field, and having lost several of the OEM glass pieces in the process.

I need to know if there is any consistency to the Nikon eyepiece threads between bodies because the adaptor has to thread in, lock in place, and have the flat top level with the viewfinder. I found that with my D5 the threads start/stop about 210* off compared to my D810. But that may be unique to the D5 as it already uses a slip on eyepiece cover unlike all of the other bodies.

This is the adaptor on my D810 (machined aluminum with glass insert).

And this is with a right angle viewfinder adaptor mounted.

I would really appreciate it if some of you could try moving the glass eyepiece between different bodies and seeing if they align consistently at all.
Thanks!

Can't help now - only got one body that accepts Nikon screw in accessories and that's a Fuji X-Pro 1 not a Nikon!

What I can say is that I preferred the screw in method to the slide on one - far more positive and less likely to fall off.

I understand that... and I would probably have two bodies rather than trying to switch between w/wo a right angle finder for different situations that might arise rather quickly (but I don't have multiples of the same lenses).
So far the adaptors I have mounted to it seem plenty secure enough, but certainly not as secure as a screw-in locking attachment.
