This isnt a whinge or a whine but.............


It's a long story but if I were made redundant although it would be a shock I wouldn't give a hoot. I only stick the job to pay my own way in life.

Just wondering if anyone actually enjoys their job. Does such a job exist these days.

I dont mean this as an insult to those out of work by the way it's just a question.
 
i enjoy the money- or should i say the lack of it......

but then you gotta ask is there much to love about being a driving instructor???

i enjoy a challenge and it stops me from going insane, but cant half get frustrating sometimes...
 
Yep.

I genuinely enjoy my job.
I hate having to go to work - if that makes sense :thinking:
I could happily never work again.

But yes I love my job.

Yep... I enjoy my work, it definitely helps that i'm outdoors everyday.
I used to give my dad a hard time when I was growing up ,because of the hours he worked,leaving the house at whatever god earthly hour god bless him , I'm just the same lol
 
Love my job, see lots of the south, from lands end to dover, based from home, so only go to the office once every 3 months, generally the company I work for are good and fair, although if I could afford to I would quite like it if I didn't have to work, although I am sure I would son get bored.
 
I couldn't answer this question at the moment because I am unemployed but in a few months time I will be loving my job as I will be joining the royal marines.
 
Wow Nick I hope it all goes well and fullfills your dreams.

Kinda wish I did join the Royal Navy all those years ago, but didnt doooohhh...... :D

I think it will. I was going to join my local T.A but my friends left because they just don't care about you there and just forgot about you and your training so I thought whats better than being on a navy ship going from port to port and getting paid for it. I love the physical side of it all too.
 
hmm i do now..........

a few years back I actually hated it... mainly because my manager, his manager and the dept head were incompetent.........

a few examples........

I go on holiday with a team of 18 I manage.
I come back on holiday with a team of 0 because they didn't have the balls to do otherwise, whilst I was there.

Day back from holiday get dragged in to the Head of's office ... by his scrotum licking bitch boy....

"Lynton - we don't think you're a world class leader what do you think to that statement."
OK, agreed, the immediate response of "well, f*** me, what a coincidence, because that's 3 of us in this room who fill those boots."

Deathly silence.......

"so who would you say is a world class leader?"
"well not saying I agree with their beliefs or 'management philosophy' but shall we start off with Mandela, Ghandi, Dalai Lama, I can argue a case for Hitler as a leader if you want, if your definition of lead , is getting others to follow your ideals, Disreli, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Castro's got most of cuba onboard.... "

Not surprisingly in the next round of applying for your own job I didn't get one... however I had a massive amount of fun, joining the union, and taking all 3 down the grievance procedure....because whilst I might have voiced my opinions, i made sure I had documented evidence of everything...........

the most hilarious was at the grievance hearing the union rep immediately threw a wobbly as the Director of that department was "hearing it" and needed to be independent...... so was rescheduled.....

During the rescheduled hearing..... managers manager... "I don't recall ever saying that Lynton...."

"Hmm, well in that case how come you signed the minutes for the meeting..." and thus it went on....


So I did come to hate the last 2 years of that job.... but where I am now, (NFU Mutual) I love it, I love the people....I love the job, and I love their attitude to things.

Not 100% sure yet I either want to go in as a royal marine commando or go in as a warfare specialist firing the big guns on the ships :lol:either way I want a challenge though.

Well I have an interview in April so I will find out then when I start training.
 
If ur not 100% set on being a marine done apply for it! Navy is a piece of **** as is the army, unfortunatly the advert is true 99.9% need not apply.

30 miler was easy, the BST was the hardest thing for me. Week 14! Killer.

Mind over matter, if its nt on your mind it dosent matter
 
I'm self-employed, I love my job ... I still whistle when I go to work!
I spent 15 years of my life in a job I hated and I would hate to have to do that again - my job is just a means to an end, supporting family, paying bills etc but it is so good doing something that you enjoy.
 
Yep - enjoy my job every day..........well apart from the sitting on motorway bits.

The great thing is I meet different people every day - and I have the opportunity to make someones life a little bit better.

Sounds cheesy - but in my job you realise that you aren't so badly off when you meet some of the people I do. Physical and mental disability in others makes you reassess your own life in a different way.

Yep I still bitch about stuff as I've made a life's work of it but now I know I talk tosh.

Oh and by the way I have also had the stressful job which meant I wanted to kill someone every day:cuckoo:

Yeah army just do not care. My friend was close to passing out and all he said he had mostly done was map reading. I know I can do the RM in my head. I know if I am mentally prepared the physical side will come.

30 miler was easy? wow that has put my mine at ease a little :thumbs:
 
After nearly twenty years of working in a greenhouse as a tomato picker, I was only too glad to have been made redundant last year. Yes it was a job, one that paid the bills . . . but, weelllllll . . . after having been surrounded by those bloody fruits for that long, it does lose it's appeal.
I'm currently taking a break from work to look after my elderly mother. The wages isn't that good but I have a lovely boss and the working condition is fantastic.
 
Yep. I do.
100+ hour weeks in the summer. (118 being my longest week) 20 hour weeks at times in the winter.
Outside enjoying all the seasons. But I can always find some paperwork to sort if it's really too foul outside.
When it's hot, and the hours need to be worked. Then I've got a nice comfy weight-adjusted suspension seat to park my back-side in. The air-con is keeping me nice and cool. There's a can chilling in the fridge, and it's just me and the dog listening to the DAB radio. If the phone rings I can even sort that out over the Bluetooth function on that radio
Some cars can be comfy too. But I'm talking about my tractor.;)

Been in business now for almost 20 years. Still thoroughly enjoy it. Have a laugh with the staff and customers most days.
I have about 6/7 weeks a year holidays and still find myself going in about an hour early everyday.
I was the same (apart from the holidays) when I worked for someone. Thoroughly enjoyed the job.

Yes and no, I'm sure everyone who enjoys what they do could still admit to disliking some even small part of it.
I like making things, physical things that involve planning and construction, being productive...creative.
I don't like, sitting down, being in the same place for weeks on end, paperwork, office politics, in fact absolutely anything office related.
Management of personnel can be quite satisfying too, but not in an office, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than manage an office full of paper shuffling key tapping white collars, that job has absolutely no redeeming features at all...:gag:
 
if i had a choice i wouldn't work if that makes sense, but i do enjoy my job
 
Used to until they made 1/2 the company redundant. Made you work the day though before they told us.
 

A quick résumé as I'm off early in the morning, yet again.
Traveling around the country trouble-shooting, customer / franchisee liaison.
Site surveys, site inspections, killing pests / vermin, in all sorts of area's.
Flying birds of prey, as a deterrent to other birds, in all manner areas.
Naw its crap :D

(But someone has to do it :))
 
Another lad and I were told we were being made redundant at the Marina, we spent the day celebrating winding everyone else up how we'd never have to deal with out utter **** of a boss ever again!

I loved the work, it was what I'd always wanted to do, but the business was a joke, and my readiness in telling the boss this probably helped shortlist me for the boot! :lol:

My current job is pretty low down the list of carreers, but it's easy and although not the most intellectually taxing I quite enjoy it. I have enough power to have minions do my biding but not enough responsibility that I have to worry too much! :lol:

I think like all jobs you have your ups and downs. Some people are really happy even when you consider they have a bit of a **** job it's what you make of it. I work in a design studio and 70% of my week is spent banging my head against a brick wall but ultimately I produce something at the end of it that I can be proud of.

I work in IT support, for a hopeless company that has the organisational skills of a peanut and **** poor management...

Its not unusual for me to be covering 5+ peoples jobs (as well as my own) and even when the chips are down I'm still expected to perform miraculously without flaws. If one single thing is forgotten its me in the boss's office having my collar felt.

The amount of **** I have to put up with probably makes me eligible for some kind of award by now, but I tolerate it because the pay is actually reasonable and there's a chance I may be getting promoted soon.

Make of that what you will...

You can like your job but hate where you work and of course you can hate your job but like where you work.

If you are lucky, you can like both. I used to love what I did and where I did it, before I moved to Scotland.
 
I love my job. I can make loads of dosh and do what I want within reason. Shame that I gotta work with a bunch of muppets tho.
 
I hate my job with a passion!!!!!

Been at the same company for nearly 15 years but have moved jobs/departments a few times.

I've been in my current role for the last 5 and a bit years, when I first joined the team I REALLY enjoyed what I did (Data Warehouse/MI based) but the company made a decision to move the Analytics stuff to our office in Germany and by default I was moved to a Fraud/Risk position.

I argued the toss that I should be redundant as I joined the team as a Business Intelligence Analyst and not a Fraud Analyst, raised a grievance too.

They played the trump card that my "global" job title was Product Specialist and they were just moving me to another "Product" :shake::shrug:

So here I am, nearly three years later still plodding along except the manager we had that just about made life bearable has been replaced by an ex-peer who has the charisma, charm and man-management skills of a lathargic slug! In his first week at the helm he decided to try and stamp his authority on the team (5 people he's worked with for 3-4 years) which backfired straight away when I pointed out what he was telling us went against company policy and that he'd levelled unsubstantiated accusations at myself and the rest of the team.... oh yeah, he's put it all in email which his manager was copied in on too :lol:

The ironic thing is, for the first time ever I'm reasonably happy with my salary, OK it's not mega amounts but I'd have to commute to London to stand a chance of earning more but........... Even if they offered me another £5K+ I'd still want another job (if that makes sense?)
 
i enjoy my job - Make a difference, see a lot of things that others dont
It does have its stressful times, but I think its important to not let things get to me

As has been mentioned, sometimes I hate it, but its never my colleagues - Its generally the government ruining things because they cant understand how cuts will effect us..... And the general public who I have to deal with - They annoy me
