Does anybody here use an AliveCor "Kardia"?

Yes
I'm having issues getting it to talk to the app.... Wondered if anybody here could help.

I've been using one for a while now and usually don't have any problems with the sensor bar connecting to the phone.

I'm sure I read it uses ultrasonic sound to transfer the data and the only place it seems to have problems is on my train going to work in the morning if I sit in the carriage with the power pick up above it.

Anywhere else if I have the bar within a few inches of the phone it's OK

Thanks for the response David. I understood that it pairs to the phone over bluetooth, and I just can't get the unit to connect to the phone.

Have you checked that it's showing up in your Bluetooth connections list (Settings | Bluetooth).

If not, see if another device can see it. You don't need the other device to connect, you're only checking to see if there's a Bluetooth transmission from the Kardia.

My iPad can't see it either, and my phone links to my car perfectly

Then it seems that the Kardia isn't broadcasting. Are there instructions for controlling the transceiver or is it a "switch on and go" device?

May not be the case here but I’ve had problems with pairing some devices when the phone name has a space in it - my Garmin GPS devices would connect/disconnect unpredictably until I renamed the phone - now it’s fine......

It's a switch on & go device. I'm going to try on the iPad this morning, see if that's different.

This confuses me. Single lead?? What sort of lead would that be? I thought it was wireless from the device to the phone ap..

it IS wireless, the Single Lead/6 Lead designation refers to the type of reading it gives - basically the original one just gives a plain single ecg trace using just 2 contact pads. The newer, improved 6l can do a "single lead trace" using just the top pads, but can also do a more detailed trace using a third contact pad taken off the skin on your left leg at the knee/ankle.

the 6L is definitely an improvement on the original, especially in the use of Bluetooth rather than the Ultrasonic Audio, because the audio was VERY picky about the phones it worked with, and often as App was revised it'd drop certain phones that previously worked. Basically to be safe, you were best to be on pretty much the latest revision Apple phone. In contrast my 6l works with some pretty "lesser known name" android phones / tablets with no issues.

Thanks for this Mark. I had actually given up on it as I just couldn't get the phone and the device to link. I'm pretty sure I bought the basic unit, about £80-90, and it never appears in BT, so I'm guessing it's trying to connect over UA.

I have an iPhone XR with up to date IOS so I'm thinking it "should" work.

yeah - for me, the extra few quid for the newer version was a no-brainer - bearing in mind the cost of buying a "branded" phone rather than the dodgy chinese special from aliexpress I'm actually very happy with, and the bonus of the more complete ecg trace details... not that I can absolutely interpret them, but to be honest, after spending 2 weeks recently in hospital wired to the real thing, I've got a good idea of what the trace should look like when i'm "okay" and sadly, also when aFib kicks in...
