Yes
Lots of the kitchen stuff we buy fails within 12 months, kettles microwaves ect, some times we buy shop brands and sometimes its known brands with no difference,we keep all reciepts.

Just had another microwave fail after 10 months (Asda one this time) so i hope you all keep your receipts.

We used to buy from Argos and pay the small amount to extend the warranty but i see its not available now on lots of things, wonder why :D.

Yes tend to, especially if I've not got an electronic copy of the receipt...

Do like JL for this - if you buy something in store and have one of their my JL cards, it automatically gets added to your electronic receipts :)

I keep boxes and receipts for anything which might need returning. After two years, I chuck the receipt away. I tend to keep the box in case I need to repack the item eg when moving.

Yes, for warranty and insurance claim purposes should it ever be needed

I just moved house. Got all the boxes out of the loft but for most of them the moving chaps preferred their own boxes so a lot of them went in the recycling.

I always put mine in a safe place. Where that is I have no idea if/when the time comes to need them.

It's toasters that we've had trouble with we are on our second Russel Hobbs one first was replaced by amazon second one is on its way out

The loft is full of boxes ,the mrs has instruction books and receipts for stuff that went to the tip several years ago .no rhyme of reason

Receipts go into the boxes which in turn go into the loft. Never needed to return anything to a shop. Amazon tend to replace without requiring the faulty item returned in my experience.

I scan all my receipts
I'd never thought of that, sounds like a plan TBH

My microwave is 14 years old this year. Still looks and works like new.
Mine just failed after 10 years, I feel conned :(
I guess the guarantee has run out too :(

Keeping receipts, for large domestic items, yes I tend to staple them into the user manual, Camera kit, they go in the boxes.

I wish I was that organised :D

I've no idea where the manuals are for my cameras !!

In the boxes surely? :D

Though if anything like mine, they remain unread :D

Yes but where are the boxes !!! :D
Yes I never read manuals for anything I get:D

I guess they just don't make 'em like they used to.
That's the problem isn't it?
When they were giving away 2/3 year guarantees, they had to make these things last..
Now, in today's "throw-away" culture, no one cares if it falls apart after a year ..

In other news, they now cost 40 quid.

Another rip off I paid £45 for mine :( :p

Although that's not really the point, is it,?
the 10 year old + one, was end of line / shop display or some such .. and IIRC cost me circa £50
Although of course 10 years ago £50 was quite a lot of money to pay.

I suspect that's why they fall apart after a year.
The current replacement for mine is still £190 which is about what I paid for mine 14 years ago. Yes it was expensive for a Microwave but currently running at around £13.50/year and still going strong.

As they say, Buy cheap, Buy twice

My current microwave (Hinari) was bought for £30 in Nov 2003 and is still going strong ...... and, no, I don't have the receipt! :)

Yep, we keep all receipts & bin em now & again when well out of any warranty period.

We have a `Proline` MW (think it was Comet's own branding) that's over 15yrs old & still working fine.

Boxes and receipts get lofted until the warranty's well expired - plenty up there from 20 years ago!!!

I keep receipts, but boxes just take up space so they go. (Camera gear excepted as it sometimes gets sold on.)

Have to say we must be pretty lucky on electrical stuff. Very little seems to break in fact a lot of our kitchen stuff is pretty old. Bosch fridge getting on for 10 years. Kettle way old.

That's what I do.

Not sure what the OP is doing though, kitchen gadgets never seem to fail?

I still have the receipt for my first new car, just over £600 including extras, like a spare wheel:eek: it was 1971 and an 850 mini.

Shame you don't have the car to go with the receipt [emoji6]

buy it all on Amazon. They keep an electronic copy of the receipt and the customer service has yet to fail me.

Duality toasters last well, and are repairable.

Totally agree. Usually they're good with prices and it's so easy if anything goes wrong.
