How many of you carry your DSLR etc with you every day, in the car, going to work, etc etc?

As I mentioned in the thread that was closed down earlier, I used to until I got a mobile with a good camera.

My DSLR stays at home unless I expect to be using it. My S90 goes everywhere with me though. My phone camera is ok but not a patch on the S90.

No, it's too impractical. But I almost always carry either a compact, my phone or both.

Actually, that reminds me. There's a disposable film camera been sitting 24/7/365 in the glove compartment of the car as part of the accident kit for the last 8 years. The film should be nicely cooked by now, might get some interesting effects.

Carry a small Tamrac bag, Used to carry my D700 and 24-70mm everywhere. but rearly used it, so started carrying my D300 and Voigtlander 40mm and used it all the time.

Now I got a compact camera that has been converted to IR and I am enjoying discovering a new kind of photography.

I don't generally bring my camera unless I know I'm going somewhere that I know there's a chance of a good shot.

Having said that, there's so many times when I think "I wish I had the camera with me" so maybe I should bring it out more!

Mine goes everywhere with me as I have a crap phone

Thats the thing, you see something and are always gutted you left your gear at home!

i grab the rucksack with the camera in it when ever im out (unless its the pub) you never know when a perfect oppertunity will show its self

I carry my fuji F10 or my canon G9 everywhere but the DSLR is too big (and valuable)

I travel a fair bit with my job so I usually bung my bag in the back of the car especially during the summer months so I have the opportunity to take shots after work.
Other than that I have my camera phone but that's another thread ;-)

I only take my DSLR on arranged trips. The kit is too heavy and expensive to lug around/leave in the car.

I ALWAYS have my iPhone 4 with me which is perfect for the times I need to take a random pic.

I wonder how long it will be before a certain member drops by for a chat?!

Always have my iPhone 4S (sold my LX5 as it effectively became redundant) and usually have my Sony NEX-5N which is as good as a DSLR, but in a much smaller package. Sometimes, I'll also carry a full frame camera with me too; an Olympus XA ;)

Unfortunately I don't take the slr everywhere, though if there's any faint chance I'd use it in anger, I try to take it.

Otherwise my little G9 stays in the car and I guess I always have the iPhone on me :)

Mark.

I always carry my D700 apart from when I go to work, unless there is something going on at work that I specifically want to shoot. I cycle to work so don't want to carry more than the minimum. Luckily I don't have much in the way of "kit" to carry as I just own one small 28mm prime lens and an SB-910 flash.

I take my dslr/slr out when I am going out to take photos.

I take my Oly Trip/digi compact in my man bag when just going out.

Always have my HTC Sensation with me which I use for the odd shot more than the everyday cameras. I can never be arsed getting them out of my bag even though they are tiny. The phone is always in my breast coat pocket.

Alway take a camera out either an DSLR or 4/3 camera :)

I have an phone but dont use as an camera :D

I can't carry my camera with me to work because of the security, but i only use it onces a week now because of winter.

Ive thought about this too. I always take my DSLR with me everywhere I go, and wory about leaving it in the car. Although adequate insurance covers it, I still wouldnt want it getting stolen.

So Ive been thinking about getting a bridge camera similar to what I used when I first started flirting with photography. Had a Fujifilm Finepix bridge camera (cannot remember the model number), better than using a compact in some respects, and good enough to get some decent creative shots with some of the controls I now get with using a DSLR.

I could keep one of those in my car with my old tripod without worrying as much when keeping my DSLR in there and still get the ability to have some control over Aperature, Exposure ect.

As I don't drive I take mine in a small bag with me at all times.

Having read this thread, I think I'm going to drag my old Konica Minolta Dimage Z5 out of retirement.

OK, it's probably not that great now compared to newer bridge cameras but it's not that bad and certainly better than my camera phone

Not allowed to take a camera on site where I work, and it's only a 15 minute blast up the motrway from home, so no point taking it anyway. My DSLR is to big and bulky to lug round everywhere other than specific photo excursions, but the camera on my phone is very good and goes with me pretty much everywhere.

I don't take my camera out unless I know I'm going somewhere that I will want to take pictures mainly because its too heavy to carry around all day and I wont want to leave it in the car in case it gets stolen.

I make do with my phone although there are lots of occasions when I see something and think 'I wish I had my dslr with me'

iPhone 4 in pocket, S95 in wife's handbag, gf1+20/1.7 in the car.. That's the usual setup. Now it's getting too cold to keep a camera in the car though :(

Since christmas I started carrying my Dslr with me wherever I go including work. I don't know what will come out of it but will see.

The best camera is the one you have with you.

I sometimes take the SLR kit with me when I'm not working and it always comes to work with me, as it is used as part of my job.

Other times I use a Nikon S230 compact, that sits in the centre console of my car :)

Just had a thought to contradict myself.....ive got the adequate kit insurance but yetdo not feel safe enough to leave it in the boot of my car wherever I go. Seems daft really.

Its gonna stay in th boot of my car, never know when I may need it. Plus I have a cigarette lighter socket in the boot of my car, so I can keep the spare battery charged at all times. wh00p

Nope, I only take it with me when I know I'm going to use it. I do have a phone camera I always have with me, but don't use it for pleasure purposes, just occasionally to record something for work.

I take mine most places - rarely to work, but almost invariably on our daily dog walk and anywhere else we go. I have a comfy bag so although it is heavy I don't mind it, and I have convinced myself it helps keep me fit, especially when carrying it up the Malvern Hills!

For those leaving their (insured) kit in their cars, check your policies. My cover with Aaduki only covers kit left in a car up until 9pm even if it's out of sight in the boot.

yes, it goes everywhere with me, usually in my handbag lol (it's a big handbag)
