No
As the title says do you bring your camera to work, be it a simple point and shoot to a monster 1dx?

i do. i tend to bring my 5d3 with me all the time as i tend to have more time to take shots outside in my lunch break then in the weekends.

i sometimes even bring my 70-200 f2.8 to work like now!!

Last week my mate played a prank on me and hide my camera on his desk. felt like punching him lol so from now on i keep my camera locked down lol as sometimes i just leave it on my desk whilst away from my desk too LOL:eek::eek:

Serves me right for my mate playing a prank on me LOL

Yeah but i work from home for myself i'm self employed. The Christmas parties rubbish!

It really depends where you work. I worked in a messy steel factory, even my phone would get clogged up with steel shavings/burr - I certainly would never have brought a good camera in there.

Unless there was some great scenery outside the workplace, or at least some very interesting bits and bobs to shoot on the grounds, I wouldn't bother.

In my old job I used to have special dispensation and a second locker just for my camera, for days when we had say a charity day on to grab a few photo's for the company intranet, was great to get a little bit of paid time away from the real work, but as a rule no I didn't as because of the work we did no electronic devices were permitted in the work area without expressed permission from the MD

I work in an office in Derby City Centre. I used to bring it with me, then it dawned on me that I am no good at Street Photography; and Derby is not attractive.

I'd love to go out every lunch for some good street photography, but round here... not much 'different' goes on.

I imagine he meant - anyone who's not a full time photographer :D

I started taking mine to work as of a few months ago, i work in the City centre and it still amazes me the stuff i find that i never knew was there even though i have lived here all my life

It's also handy for the trip to and from work to always have your camera on you, not just about using it on your lunch break

work has a strict no camera policy, as i work on an manufacturing site, in the design office...

they are happy to turn a blind eye to camera phones though :cuckoo:

I don't bring my camera gear in, but i have custody of the work 450D and lenses. Plus I usually carry a blackberry which has an integral camera

I've never understood this either, and it's far easier to sneek a photo with a mobile as it would be whipping out a DSLR anyway

I work in a design office too, but they couldn't care less here, but i do get asked to shoot any new products we are launching for our sales literature

It's not Rolls Royce by any chance is it where you work?

Yes, but only because I come in early, through the new Forest and work 5 mins from Poole Harbour, meaning if it looks like a nice sunrise/sunset I can usually nip out to grab something.

The Noink P & S is permanently with me, and I suppose the the kit bag's with me maybe 50% of the time during the working week.

Yes. The Trip or the Minolta X300 with the 50 on it are small enough to fit in the small bag I have for my kindle and tobacco tin.

I sometimes take my camera in work, building sites are not the best places but sometimes like to day a lovely owl flew within 30 yards of the ghouse I am working in so it will be with me tomorrow.

I always carry a compact camera in my handbag just in case, though I work in a school so I can only use it at lunchtimes and when off site!:)

I haul my butt all around the City of London most days. I took my camera a few times but wasn't using it so stopped. Looking forward to when I get an X100S - that I will take around with me for sure.

Yes I have my bridge camera most of the time with me at work. often used for complaints.

Get some weird looks when I take random photos of the sky, but it is just my way of knowing I have moved from one area to another.

Close, but no cigar

Not as a rule, but I did when we first got the snow and I did a few weeks back when we got a load of hoar frost on everything. On the way to work there is a beautiful sunrise across fields which looks especially magical when there is a bit of mist. Many times I've kicked myself for not bringing it, but its one of those places that's awkward to stop.

Sometimes I will, normally it's a Fuji bridge camera that I use as a "take everywhere" camera.

Nope, not allowed to due to the nature of the places I work.

I have made some cameras at work. Does that count?

I sometimes have a Nikon P6000 with me.

Steve.

I used to take it to work so I could take pictures on my way home as most of the places I have worked have been strictly no photographic devices.

It used to be fun going around in the early hours getting photos when almost everyone else was in bed.

I often have an SLR with me. My job can be quite stressful & a chance to take a break & lose myself taking some photographs helps me survive the day.

Can I just add here, do any young photographers take theirs to school, not so much secondary but sixth form/collage or university?

I certainly want too take mine when I go to sixth form in September :) (btw I am not planning on taking photography)

I do occasionally but its only a 5 minute walk and it gets very repetitive! If there is exceptional lighting or some other reason I might extend the walk and do a quick photoshoot on the way in.

I can find myself on the top floors of canary wharf skyscrapers one day, in stately homes the next day, quite often wandering around central london from one meeting to the next. I usually have my fed with me.

I used to take my SLR with me, but started to find it to distracting, the work was taking longer to get done. I do miss not having it with me though, might have to get a point and shoot to keep in the van :)

Can't take mine to prison!

I dunno, I've walked round a couple with my mobile before after forgetting I had it on me... Mind you this was a good 6 years or so ago in the Eds/quantum days.

Yes because I have to use it for work

I travel all round britain with work staying in various places , so yes my camera is always with me. Most of my photography tends to be in the evenings to avoid sitting round hotel bars and restaurants on my own pretending to read a book or if I finish with a client early and spot somewhere nice.

Nope. I work from home anyway. I do, occasionally, use a camera for work but not in the UK.

I'm retired so no work to take it to. I've always got my mobile phone on me which has a 1/2 decent camera for snaps and I'm trying to train myself to keep one in the car for photographs (X-10).

Before I retired, I was a painter and decorator, not an ideal occupation for photography, either painty, pastey or dusty paws, none of which would do any camera much good! Even a waterproof one would suffer from paint in the butons. Besides, that was a bit before I got back into photography after a few years as a snapper. Not only were the conditions less than ideal, opportunities were few and far between; shots of the interior of someone else's property would (IMO) be a gross intrusion were they not asked for by the customer.
After that, I spent a year or so as a part time cellar man at a sports club where again, photo opportunities were not an everyday occurrence - a cellar full of kegs, casks and crates is hardly a vase of sunflowers! I suppose I could have got on court to shoot the players but have you seen the bruises a well hit squash ball leaves?! :O
