Do Jessops price match?

I'm thinking about getting a lens today, and am planning to go to Jessops. i have a ton of photography magazines at home, and one of the lens i'm considering is advertised as £50 cheaper than Jessops. I bought my D40x from Jessops a few weeks ago, do you think they'll price match the price of the lens i want if i take the magazine in??
 
If you have a current advert from Jessops saying they'll price match they will. I actually bought my 70-200 from there and they price matched warehouse express on production of the relevant advert.
 
I seriously doubt it. 99% of people here will advise you to go & play with stuff at Jessops then go & buy it somewhere else (there's a reason they're closing 80 branches & it's not because they are the cheapest out there!). There's a very well respected supplier on here - Kelso - who will likely beat most prices you will find anywhere except Hong Kong!
 
yes there is a voucher in the latest digital camera mag that says they will price match any price inside that mag. Should be worth the £3,99

If they don't ... :thinking: ... take your business elsewhere ... simple ... :shrug:


I would also check somewhere like Kelkoo before you spend your hard earned too ... :thinking: ... just to make sure you are getting best price wherever you buy ... :suspect:

Ahh Kelso the pretty little town on the England/Scotland border.;) I know you meant Kerso really.:D
 
I've pm'd Kerso but have got no reply yet. the cheapest i've seen the lens advertised online is £184 inc p+p and a UV filter. the company is Fotosense (i think). if Jessops price match cameraworlds current offer on the lens £199.99, personally i'd prefer to pay the £15 extra for peace of mind. (i worry about Lenses being sent thru the post LOL). i'm gonna take my receipt in as well to prove i bought my camera there. gonna try as i have nothing to lose really. I've got the current issue of Digital Camera with the advert in, but sods law the cameraworld advert is in another mag. i'm gonna take them both in, and see what happens.

I recently ordered a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM & Canon EF 1.4x II Extender from kerso (Ian) and the price including postage was over £270 cheaper than Warehouse Express! I'm expecting delivery within the next day or so :)
 
Whenever I have been to Jessops I have found that the manager can do you a "deal" especially if you are a regular or have bought your body from there. Guess it all comes down to whether they are close to reaching their targets for the month.
 
Sorry to hijack this thread a little.... Does Kerso only deal with Canon or is he able to get hold of Nikon Lenses aswell?

I've always found that are either prepared to price match or near price match if you present an ad or quote for the kit you require. Which is useful for those of us old fashioned and 'quaint' enough to still purchase over the counter. Jessops, as with any business, recognise sales, even reduced sales, are better than no sales.
At worst, they can only say no, so it is always worth asking.
 
He deals with Nikon gear too. Check out his ebay shop - FLASH CAMERA.
 
There are good reasons Kerso comes recommended by so many Forum members, generally he is very quick and reliable and when buying more expensive lenses, you can save hundreds of pounds compared to any UK supplier.

Having said that, Jessops generally do price match, including web prices as long as you can prove it is a .co.uk site rather than .com and also the item is in stock. I was able to pick up memory cards at sensible prices after proving a 4Gb CF card was available at £35 at Amazon rather than the £110 Jessops had it in the shop for. The customer waiting behind me was so disgusted on (over)hearing the price difference, he put his goods back and walked out of the shop!
 
They did, got my 30D for £660 from them last year (it had £100 cash back too).

I bought in a print out into the store, i liked doing it because if the camera goes wrong i can just walk in to change it instead of sending it back.
 
Store shopping does have some advantages, as you said you can take the goods straight back to the shop. Returning goods purchased over the web can be a frustrating and time consuming business, not to mention costly!
 
Well the guy in Jessops said they can price match a shop but not a website price. As he didnt have the lens i wanted in stock i didnt pursue it. i'm gonna order the 70-300mm VR online today so i can collect in store, and when it comes in, i'll try and get as good a deal as i can LOL. The 70-300mm VR lens has an instore price of £399, but if you buy online and use their discount code it should bring it down to £330. i want to try and get them to bring it down to £300 if poss, does anyone know if this lens sells for £300 anywhere???
 
Yeah got mine from WE cheapest uk price I saw for it.

Edit: They will do a price match and refund 15% if you can find cheaper
 
I wanna see what the lens is like first. to be honest i've just ordered it from Jessops to be collected in store. if i like the lens, then the price i'm gonna pay is £330 anyway, so i'll be able to take it away with me, and have the peace of mind that i can take it back instore if any problems arise. thanks for the info though
 
Looking around you would be hard pushed to get it, ex-UK, for any less than £330 ... :shrug: ... in which case Jessops is playing just about spot-on the market ... :D

i've just been searching Venomator, and your right. i dont think you can buy much cheaper in the UK. think i've seen it for about £325 from microglobe (i think), but when they add on the p+p, jessops works out cheaper

Tried pm'ing Kerso, but he hasnt replied yet. hope he replies soon before i end up buying it from Jessops.
