Yes, I know, not a chance of anything decent shot wise BUT, my daughter is getting married at the end of next month and she has a 20 month old daughter and I plan to get that child into something, why not photography.
So, I don't expect her to get a single decent shot, BUT (again) Im tempted to buy a few disposable cameras for her use.

Two questions
1. is there such a thing as a digital camera that could take the abuse of dropping etc by a kid and may survive a day? Initially thinking an old olympus tough but i know little of them to be honest?
2. If I HAVE to go down the film disposables should I just buy a few from the likes of argos?

1 - I've not used an Olympus tough camera but the option that comes to mind would be an old action camera. They're durable (no moving parts), fixed focus and have a wide angle lens so even if the camera isn't aimed accurately for shots there's a good chance the shot could be salvaged with a bit of cropping. The controls are usually super simple as well with often one or two buttons with a big and obvious record button.

Im not sure a 20 month old would be able to wind on a disposable that easily without help.

I'd think a couple of old digitals would be more likely to survive as if the camera breaks you only need to fish out a card not a roll of film. Charity shops and car boots might have some old ones.

Disposable film cameras aren't that cheap now, Harrison camera do have some expired Fuji ones for £8 a pop which is a lot cheaper than any others I've seen recently.

They also have kodak 36 frame one that's ASA800 film for the same money.

When our daughter was young (think she was 3-4) we got her a Vtech Kiddizoom. Pretty much indestructible, simple to use and fairly cheap. She is 20 yrs next week and I found it the other day and it still powers up.
Worth a look although I do wonder if any camera might be a bit too large for a 20 month old to use easily due to the size of their hands.

With a disposable I would worry they drop it, a piece of the brittle plastic breaks off and they swallow it. Maybe I'm just a worrier though.

I can't even begin to imagine that a 20 month old would be able to grasp the concept of a camera.

But if you are going to do it, make it fun:

Another thought???

Get a Go Pro (or similar bodycam (IIRC there are some even smaller & lighter than the GoPro?) and see if you can rig a harness for her and then it will record everything she sees & does........................yes, a shed-load of editing to create a video worth showing but could be fun if she is OK with that?

Thanks all, a LOT of options and thoughts there I have to say! I did go down a rabbit hole last night (wine didn't help!) and before I knew it thought I quite fancy a small tough camera for me for starting some hiking / kick scooting etc etc too. So I bought one!
