Disingenuous ad listing by stores

This is the Ballhead i traded against my A7R3.

4*

I don't have the box, or didn't try to find it. The unit itself has only ever been mounted on a 2 different tripods twice to test then taken off, never left the house so it is indistinguishable as a new unit. But that is honest for 4*. I actually took a photo of it each time I put it on a tripod...

I've never had any problems with MPB condition descriptions and found them to be honest with what is included and what is missing.

Recently purchased a lens off another well known retailer, a Nikon authorised dealer. Unfortunately the lens was nowhere near as described.... Lens was advertised as "Excellent" but what I received looked more like "very well used" and had scratches and gouges on the lens body,, the lens hood was a very loose fit and I also found other problems with the lens. Within 1 hour of receiving it I initiated the returns process and luckily have received a full refund.

Decided to order the same lens off MPB and decided to go for a "Like new" one, as one was available. Took delivery of it today and it was completely as described....Looking at the mount there is virtually no sign of it being mounted on a camera.

I’ve never had an issue with the items I’ve bought from MPB although I agree with Raymond, like new should be indistinguishable from new including accessories. I find it frustrating I have to sift through the “like new” stock to find one with everything.

Likewise. Sold them plenty but never bought anything.

I have bought a few items from them especially when I can't source it anywhere else and as quickly.
But normally I try to find another place or shop or even eBay.

This is part of the ebay japan fun

This near mint meter has something on the lens that isnt fungus or haze! It might not be but its definitely something and no where near NEAR MINT!

I've bought many, many second hand cameras, lenses and other equipment over the last five and a half decades.

When I bought mail order, I always assumed that the description was "optimistic" and was never disappointed, apart from one seller who described a lens as "very good" but it actually had a sticky focussing mount.

I find that MPB are better than average, going by several purchases I've made from them.

I have sold them quite a lot in the past, and also purchased...did an inbox search, this popped up, I actually forgot about this! lol

Last year I bought a Nikon lens previously off MPB that was listed as coming with a soft lens case, but when I received it the soft lens case was missing. I emailed them about it stating I chose that particular lens because it came with one. The reply was they would check with the warehouse and get back in touch. A soft lens case was sent out to me a few days later.

From Japan if it's only excellent ++ it's probably unusable. I no longer buy from Japan

I’ve often wondered about the Japanese ads. Never bought from them but it’s been tempting sometimes.

Ive had lots of success from japan as long as you inspect the photos the 99 percent list their items accurately

I brought a large format lens from Japan. The description of the glass was adequate if slightly optimistic but completely failed to mention the trads holding it on the lens board had be damaged so it could not be removed, the retaining ring unscrewed about half a turn then seized solid. Instead of having an incompatible lens board I could sell on I have a lens I still can't use.

I have now spotted the lens I returned is back for sale on the website..... they have now changed the description to "Very good boxed" but "showing signs of use/wear" and they even increased the price by £90.... Unbelievable!!!!!
