I have read the news and I am not jumping up and down. All 3 sub $1000 panels from Dell, Asus and Lenovo are cheap low gamut TNs... You get what you pay for. Dell 24 Ultra HD at $1300 in US may well be the 4K "bargain" of they year if a little too small. Lets wait for Apple to respond with something respectable.

On the other note are we going to see Dell U2713H getting cheaper to fill the void? My U2711 is rather power hungry (about 150W) with CCFL backlight (vs 30-40W LEDs) and could do with replacement.

the new iMacs have an anti-reflective coating which IMHO is very good so you'd hope any Thunderbolt displays would also have the same

have you seen them? They are anything but antireflective. They are better than the previous gen but that is all. Anyway it will be nice to see apple offer 4K screen.

Hi

Yes, I think they're pretty good tbh - a step on from before and I didn't have any major gripes with the previous ones even though they were super glossy !! :)

It amazes me that people think Mac displays are great for editing when they have glossy screens.

What are the LG ones? They have a number out up to 34" with decent resolution, ie not long 1080p displays. I think they are 3880x 1440, which would be a great step up from a 27"screen. Not sure what panel they use or what the price is likely to be...

The first sensibly priced 30-34" 4K IPS is going to get my money. The LG are 2560x1440 from what I can see, and are $1000 :/

Dell's 2412 16:10s are the best value at the moment (I'm a developer, not photographer by trade).

It's got very little to do with the monitor manufacturers since the actual screens are outsourced.
We will only have better screens when the display panel manufacturers (LG?) choose to put them into production and make them available to other manufacturers.

Any 2560x1440 screens aren't ultrawide, that's just a standard 16x9 size (27" monitors).

The LG UM95 is 21x9 3440x1440 and either 29" or 34". I'm guessing they will be expensive but they could be very tasty! Most importantly they will be IPS. :)

Ah, wasn't including the ultrawides. Not interested, would buy 4:3 if they were available, although 16:10 will probably have to do!
