DigitalRev uses camera for product review and samples then sells to customer as new

Interesting, and yes, very naughty, and surely unnecessary too!

kudos for the website owner for doing their due diligence though!

Oh dear, more horsemeat camera concerns!

Discraceful! I never liked Digital Rev! I heard so many bad things about them and everyone kept ordering from them. I guess nobody will moan if they get their cameras but its stuff like this which is appauling and only gets noticed now ane again.

Well ... if you buy cheap ...

Its called doing a Jessops, isn't it? In my experience it was a common occurrence with that company.

I just looked at the exif on one a couple of my pics, and I can't see the serial number stamped on there?
does anyone elses?

ok found it, oddly I can't see the s/n in opanda, but can in CS6.

and the photo s/n matches the camera, and none can be found on the web :D

Indeed, except jessops put known faulty items back on sale as new too.
At least you know the ones from DR will work if Kai has been using it.

No. You know it WAS working. The thing that's often struck me is he never seems to use a strap. Who knows how many times he drops cameras while doing his videos.

Bang out of order, IMO.

At least you didn't get sent a pinkenta d7000!

I wouldn't want the 7D Kai set fire to!:)

Could be worse, at least his serial number matches EXIF and appears to be a genuine sticker, unlike some of the cameras sold by DR :)

I was thinking about that thread. Related to this, I wonder? Use customer-ordered cameras, then change the serial number to avoid what's happened here?

Maybe I'm just an old cynic.

I don't use a strap of any kind and i've never dropped any camera I've owned. I think there'd be pretty obvious damage to the shell if you drop a camera.

You're right tho, it is bang out of order.

Unbelieveably bad for a company that's just getting over a forged serial sticker saga. You would of thought they'd want to be squeaky clean for a while to ensure they don't attract any more bad publicity. That's the killer for me, I will never buy anything from DigitalRev in the future. Maybe if more potential customers used principles instead of £ signs when they make a purchase DR might even get it's house in order and stop treating customers with distain.

He bought his camera many months before the serial number bisiness so at leat they kept themselves clean for a little while :)

I wonder what the percentage of happy customers is, as opposed to the ones (like the guy in the link) who got a bum deal?

Well, II have used them and I had a good experience so that makes it 1-1 so far.

I wonder how many customers would notice that their new kit had already been opened and used? Someone told me nikon don't even seal their boxes the other day.

I think you're right - most people wouldn't know one way or the other.

Someone told me nikon don't even seal their boxes the other day.

Well, none of the dozen, or so, Nikon boxes that I have were sealed. That covers bodies, lenses and speedlights purchased over the past four years. Does that bother me? No.

Do Canon?

I don't know. Sonys are sealed with branded tape, so you can see if the box has been opened before. I've rejected several kit orders because the boxes weren't sealed.

I brought one thing from them all nice and new,but working in the trade a few years ago now,i would say this is not an uncommon thing :)
