Anyone know of a decent newish compact (emphasis on the compact) camera that has a proper viewfinder? Or any that are due to be released in the next 6 months? Im not short on cash but i dont really want to be spending any more than £200 if it can be be avoided. Having real problems finding a modern one. Plenty of quite old or obsolete ones but all the modern ones seem to have the pansy screen EVF which blows imo.

Cheers all :)

The only other I know of are the Canon G series, I had a G11, great bit of kit.

You're right, lack of an eye-level viewfinder is a major disadvantage. Nikon P7000 and Canon G12 are the only two that currently have one I think, as said above, and both are way over £200. All the Canon G-series are good though (starting with the G7) and very similar - you could pick up a used one for that money.

You live in Beirut? I used to live in Shemlan (up the mountain, near Aley). Was a while ago though :)

The Nikon p7000 viewfinder is pretty poor but the canon G12 viewfinder is much clearer and nicer to look through.

lol :D Na id just rather live in Beirut than plymouth :D Hate the place :D

The G12 looks cool but both still a little too bulky. Think i might just have to keep an eeye on future releases.

Cheers all :)

My wife has a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70, which although has now been replaced, is a really neat compact and has a decent optical viewfinder. Might be worth checking out the newer models.
