I've been using a pantone huey to calibrate my monitor on Windows XP without any issues for quite sometime.

However something must have changed because for some reason the colours when editing in photoshop CS1 are muted quite considerably unless I change the proof set up to be monitor RGB. It does appear to affect the reds most if that means anything.

I've never had to do this in the past.

Mode is set to RGB Colour 8 bit and camera is set to SRGB.

Any ideas or suggestions what may have changed?

Thanks Chaz.

The working space is as follows

Settings : Custom

RGB: Adobe RGB (1998)
CMYK:US Web coated (SWOP) v2
Gray and spot : Dot gain 20%

and the colour management policies are all set to No.

You appear to have a bit of a conflict. You have your working colour space set to Adobe RGB yet your camera is set to sRGB.

You need to go to your colour settings and set the colour management policies in RGB either to Preserve embedded, or Convert to working space. For safety sake I would also tick the profile miss match and the other options .

It's possible that Photoshop is working in the wrong colour space hence the muted colours

Thanks Chappers.

If both were set to sRGB (Well Photoshop is sRGB IEC61966) would you expect the colours to be the same?

The problem occurs due there being two different colour spaces being used. You have Photoshop set to sRGB, which is a smaller colour space than Adobe RGB, hence the colours get skewed. The camera and Photshop are not singing from the same Hymn Sheet :)

You can overcome this by either setting the camera to sRGB or Photoshop to Adobe RGB.

I would also recommend you select one of the profile miss match options. This will catch any errors as well. Try "convert to working colour space". I'd also select the colour management warning policies to on as well. That catches any other problems

Thanks for all that.

Unfortunately even when I switch photoshop to sRGB (Camera is set to sRGB) the colours are still muted. Is there anyway I can reset Photoshop to see if that does anything?

Anyone as I can't edit any of my photos at the moment as the colour representation is non existent?

Thanks.
