Difference between white and shiny silver...

Is there a difference between a matt white and a shiny silver reflector? Apart from the shiny one reflecting more light. But I can’t imagine a situation where a reflector is too giving too much light. Can anyone give an example of when they would use one over the other??

Yes, the reflected light looks totally different. Matt white creates a softer diffused light, whereas silver results in harder specular reflection.
